Why doesn't password generator copy to clipboard?

I like getting passwords from the password generator. 1Password does not always popup to create a login. So I use the pass generator. But instead of filling, I have to copy the password so I can put it into the manually created login. Otherwise, the password gets lots forever.

Unless I'm missing something, why isn't the generated password copied to the clipboard? Or is there a way to do that without having to double click the pass and copy?

    Hi there @brettr‌,

Are you talking about the 1Password app itself or the browser extension (if so, what browser)?

    Thanks!

    Hi @brettr,

We have several safeguards in place to ensure that a generated password is never lost forever. :)

First of all, each generated password, by default will be copied to the clipboard when you hit the 'Fill' button next to the password in the generator. You can confirm that this option is enabled by clicking on the arrow beside the 'Fill' button. 'Copy to Clipboard Before Filling' should be checked.

As a second safeguard, when you click that 'Fill' button, 1Password will create an entry in the 'Passwords' category with this newly generated passwords. So, if 1Password does not notice that you've updated your password, you can open the main app and find the most recently generated password in the 'Passwords' category. You can copy that password into an existing Login, or use the handy 'Convert to Login' button if you've just set up a new account.

I hope this helps, but if you have further questions, we're here to help!

by the way, I have all my Notification Preferences checked of email. But I'm not getting any notifications from this thread. You have any idea what is wrong?

    Hi @brettr‌

Is it possible a spam filter is stopping the emails from getting through? I'm going to message you directly as well to see if you're notified of that.

I don't see anything in my spam and I haven't received your notification.

All I can think to suggest is to double check there isn't a typo in the email address you're using here at the forums. It's very odd that you're not receiving any notifications at all. I'll ask about and find out who our resident forum expert is and see if they can shed any light on this.

    Hi @brettr‌

Can I just check given we went slightly off tangent there. Does it look like notifications are working but more importantly, did we answer your original query?

@brettr, I'm glad to hear you're getting notifications now!

Are things all set as far as the password generator?
