I bought the 1Password Pro update for my iPhone and iPad. Do I have to buy a separate version to use on my laptop (MacBook Pro) or can I download it for free somewhere?

Yes, they are different apps. I'm not with Agile. You might wish to wait until someone from Agile responds so that you get a more thorough response.

Yes, 1P for Mac is a separate purchase from 1P for iOS (even from the 1P for iOS in-app purchase). There's a response from AgileBits on a very similar issue here if you need any further confirmation.

The important thing in that linked post, if you are considering buying 1P, is this:

Note that if you wish to use iCloud sync you need to purchase 1Password from the Mac App Store.

Both versions support Dropbox and local wifi to sync between a Mac and iOS devices but only the Mac App Store version supports iCloud sync.
