What version / build of FireFox are you using ? Additionally what version of 1Password ?

I think we will need to know some version numbers here to best help you.
- What version of OS X are you running?
- What version of 1Password are you running?
- What version of Firefox are you running?
- What version of the 1Password extension are you trying to download?
Hopefully that will shed some light on your difficulties

I'm having a similar issue that other folks have reported. The plugin is working fine with Chrome and Safari, but not Firefox.
I've got the following configuration:
- OS X 10.10.1
- 1Password 5.0.2 (502007)
- Firefox 35 (just updated from 34 where I was having the same issue)
- 1Password extension 4.2.5
I've tried to install the plugin several times (beta and non-beta) and each time it says it has installed successfully, but the icon does not appear in the browser toolbar.
I've got the icon in my OS toolbar at the top of the page, and that works SOMETIMES for Firefox, but is very hit-or-miss.

Hi @Eschel
If you don't mind would you be willing to test a new profile and see of the problem persists there?
Here's a link to using Firefox's Profile Manager.
Essentially, with Firefox completely closed use the following command in Terminal
/Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -p
. It'll launch the Profile Manager and there you can say don't load the default profile and create a new test one. From there you can see if the extension reports the same issue or not from a fresh, blank profile. Afterwards you can simply launch Firefox, delete the test profile and re-tick the Use the selected profile without asking at startup checkbox with the default profile selected. Then it'll be like you've never played about with the Profile Manager and your current profile remains untouched by the troubleshooting.Look forward to hearing what you observe.

@littlebobbytables That worked. When I tested with the test profile the extension installed properly, the icon appeared in the toolbar, and I was redirected to the welcome page telling me I had successfully installed the plugin.
So what do I need to do to get it to work with my profile?

Hi @Eschel
Given it's the extension that is it giving you trouble maybe try the following (with Firefox not running). I'm also assuming you removed the test profile you created?
In Finder use the ⇧⌘G keyboard shortcut and use the following location
~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles
. In there, right click on your profile's folder (it should be the only folder at a guess and will likely say default in the name) and select Duplicate. It should create a second folder with the word copy at the end of the name. That's your backup. Now in your profile's folder, select anything with the word extension in the name. There may be an sqlite file, an ini file, a json file and a folder all called extensions. Delete them all (don't worry you have copies of all of them in the duplicate folder).
When you start up Firefox won't know about any extensions that you were previously running. Now, does the issue persist if you do that?
I've tested this myself and what I can say is Firefox didn't spit the dummy at the missing files and recreated those it needed. Even so, you have a duplicate folder in case you're worried. If we're lucky though, the extension can load and you won't have to throw away any more of that profile.
Keep us informed!

@littlebobbytables Unfortunately that did not help. My other extensions went away, but the install of 1Password had the same outcome as before.

Hi @Eschel
Sorry, it was a bit of a shot in the dark.
It might be your best bet is to export your bookmarks and start with a fresh profile. I realise that's not a great solution but it might end up being a lot quicker than trying to isolate the errant file or files.

Somewhat painful solution, but that was what was required. The extension is back now

Hi @Eschel,
I'm glad to hear that you're back up and running, but I'm sorry the solution was a bit tricky.
