1pif Format Help or Share API Details

Hello all,
A bit of a specific request/discussion - as per a Twitter exchange https://twitter.com/mattclementsuk/status/547083239224274944

I have been creating a number of scripts when setting up hosting accounts, and part of this sends an email to confirm the Hosting Account setup, along with various Credentials etc internally (which we then transfer into a 1Password Vault).

Just wondering if there is any way of sending these (ideally) as a One Password Shared URL, or if not a 1pif attachment (which I think I can now do). My initial question in regards to the 1pif was what the Hash was at the end, however https://twitter.com/khad pointed out that this is just a static string which is always the same https://discussions.agilebits.com/discussion/comment/117462/#Comment_117462

So... to cut to the chase:

  • Is there any Sharing API available (SDK, API, Docs etc) on creating a One Password Shared URL, or is this proprietary within 1Password?
  • If not, does 1pif files have any docs, and is this Hash at the end still always static?

Thanks in advance,
Matt

I can't answer most of your questions regarding an API. These threads may help you get more familiar with 1PIF.

Thanks @MrC - is the API question something that Agilebits Staff Team need to answer.

Thanks for the links - that gives me something to work from

I don't believe there is a public API to generate the 1PIF. I suspect they would have informed me by now. :)

Perhaps AgileBits will be able to comment definitively on your other items.

Thanks @MrC - not looking for an API to generate the 1PIF, but instead to generate the onepassword:// shared URL's instead (if possible)

May not be possible, but this Tweet gave me the feeling it might: https://twitter.com/1Password/status/547098964475260929

Those links that @MrC provided may be very helpful indeed!

In answer to your questions, @mattclements‌…

Is there any Sharing API available (SDK, API, Docs etc) on creating a One Password Shared URL, or is this proprietary within 1Password?

It is currently just something we use internally.

If not, does 1pif files have any docs, and is this Hash at the end still always static?

The item separator is always static:

    ***5642bee8-a5ff-11dc-8314-0800200c9a66***

Shown in the pastebin I linked to on Twitter ending two items in a single 1PIF file: http://pastebin.com/HPygRsnx

I'll see if I can get any more information for you, though. :)

Thanks @khad - sorry didn't realise you were a member of Agilebits otherwise I wouldn't have needed to ask :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks, shame that the API isn't available yet, will just use 1pif attachments for now thanks.

Will post back with any further questions, but thanks for the info all.

I wonder if I need to add something to my Twitter bio. I don't usually use it for work, but I was tipped off to your tweet and couldn't resist replying.

If there is anything else we can help with, don't hesitate to ask. Have a great holiday!

    Cheers!

    Thanks  You too!!

P.S. Maybe just a "Team Member at Agilebits" would be enough :stuck_out_tongue:
