The 4 agent
Am using v5 (latest beta), but never uninstalled v4. I was looking at a list of generated passwords in the Firefox extension (4.2.5), when the view collapsed with a lot of disk activity, logged me out of 1PW, and a message popped up telling me that the 4 agent had quit. I note this appears at boot up in Activity Monitor. Is this an unnecessary (that is for v5) agent that is there from my now unused v4? Or is it still needed for v5?
5. Using Yosemite 10.1.1

1Password mini is still known as
2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword4-helper.app
in 1Password 5, is that what you're seeing? If it is you still need it.0 -
Thanks. Today, I did the almost daily beta update, after which "1password mini" showed in activity monitor "CPU" tab, but the agent didn't, except in "energy" where it was greyed out. I rebooted the computer, and then the agent showed properly again in the activity monitor "CPU" and "Energy" tabs, as well as "1password mini". So, are we now loading up 2 instances of this? I never really paid attention to this before, so it may be exactly what it has been for ages :-)

Hi @jhk
I would expect to see two entries in the CPU and Memory tab of the Activity Monitor, one titled 1Password mini and another 1Password 5. If I bring up the information for 1Password mini (keyboard shortcut
⌘I
) and switch to the Open Files and Ports I can see2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword4-helper.app
littered through it.Now your Energy tab is different as that shows you all processes, including now dead ones from the last eight hours. Dead processes are in grey so they're not running. So say set 1Password so that 1Password mini isn't always running (first option in the General tab of 1Password's preferences), that would mean each time you load 1Password a new instance of 1Password mini is launched. If for any reason 1Password mini quit and launched itself again, that would be another grey entry in the Energy tab.
Does that help explain what you're seeing at all?

Thanks. Yes, I see the same as you! However, although it's not there today (funnily enough!), I had been seeing the "agent" with the old 1P4 style of icon identifying it, as well as the 1password mini with the "5" style icon. So, as I asked in the first post, is that older agent still loading from my unused but still present 1P v4?

Hi @jhk,
Quite possible that 1Pv4 is still getting loaded up by the system. We heavily encourage users to not keep more than one version of 1Password present on their disks. I recommend at least zipping up the v4 app (in the event that you want to keep it around for any reason).

OK. Will do. Thanks.

Sorry that took longer than was probably necessary to get resolved @jhk (my fault). Let us know if you have any problems.
