Restore 1Password5 for Mac Backup process

Backups seem to be an important feature in 1Password5. What will happen when the Restore button is pressed in the Backup preferences window? Will the backup restore remove the post corruption data? Can a backup be previewed to give a hint at which backup is clean? Can it be merged with the present? Any hints welcome.

    Hi @dfpb,

You're right - backups are pretty important. We hope that you never have to use them, but 1Password will make sure they're there for you if you do.

What will happen when the Restore button is pressed in the Backup preferences window?

Once you have a specific backup selected and press Restore, 1Password will replace your existing database with the database in the backup that you have selected. It is not possible to merge a backup with the present data.

Can a backup be previewed to give a hint at which backup is clean?

If you are unsure which backup to use, I would suggest performing a fresh backup prior to restoring your database. This way you can always return to the current state if the backup that you select is not the one you wish to use.

I hope this helps, but if you need any further assistance, please give us a bit more detail about your current situation (including the version numbers of both 1Password and your operating systems for all computers and devices currently using 1Password, and what you are using for sync, as applicable.)
