Updates of 1Password never go smoothly. Why is that?
With every update I experience some glitch, the late being the icon for 1Password has at the top that my 'free trial has expired', even though
I purchased this a couple years ago. This leads to investigating and figuring out how to solve the correct installation of the icon and functionality.
Is anyone else experience less than easy updates?

I know from the forums some people haven't had a smooth upgrade but while there are a few reports they probably do represent a they small number of our customers.
Now the "Trial Expired message", there are two reasons we've seen for this. I believe for some their licence has been genuinely forgotten by 1Password but in a lot of cases people actually never applied the licence file, they didn't even realise they had to (which is how we know it wasn't the first).

I'm not going to say the software is perfect, no piece of software is but we're continually striving to better it.
