Major versions changes ?

Hello

A question on versions. I assume that there are upgrade charges for when new versions of 1password come out.

Can I assume minor versions are free, but major versions require upgrade ? In the past, how often have major versions come out ? I am trying to figure out how often I'll need to pay for upgrades .... just a rough historical view would suffice.

Thank you

Yes, I believe that has been the practice to date (save that the upgrade from 1P4 to 1P5 was also free).

I can't recall when 1P4 came out (which was a paid update from 1P3) but it was sometime around the autumn of 2013. I was certainly running 1P3 for two years before that (i.e., there were not any paid upgrades in that two year period). Given that 1P5 was released when OS X Yosemite was released I would imagine it has a bit more life in it yet as a major version. :)

I emphasise I have no inside knowledge. I merely a user on the forums, just like you.

    Thank you Stephen

  • Hi @Fouad,

@Stephen_C describes it well. 1Password 4 had a fairly short shelf life which certainly contributed to it being a free upgrade from 4 to 5. We try to keep that in mind when deciding upgrade pricing.
