Updating passwords in apps

I just signed up for 1password and was able to get started changing my passwords; however, I'm having trouble updating passwords for apps on my iPhone. For example, I updated my Facebook password on my mac, and have no problem logging in. But when I go to login to Facebook on my iPhone through the Facebook app, it's not allowing me to put in the 1password key anywhere. How do I do this?

Have you set up a method for syncing between your Mac and iPhone? Dropbox? iCloud? Wi-Fi? Here is a page to get started doing that. That's from the Mac User Guide, but it will be a place to start. There will be comparable instructions for your iPhone in the iOS User Guide.

Sorry if I misunderstood your issue.

Yes - they are totally syncing fine. And when I'm on a web page that asks for the password, I can click on the "1 circle" button to generate the password. But when I'm opening it in an actual app, there's nowhere to click on the "1 circle"

Ah, now I see. - In iOS there is a fairly small list of applications that will accept login credentials from 1Password. The developers of those apps must add special code that allows 1Password to talk directly to them. There is a partial list of the applications that will do that, but I haven't located it just now. I the OS X version, you cannot fill in credentials to login to apps.

So, if an iOS app hasn't made specific provisions for transferring credentials from 1Password and in OS X in all cases so far, autofill and auto submit on work for websites.

Edit: I found the list of apps that can accept credentials from the iOS version of 1Password. It's here. I am not certain that this is a complete list.

Ok thanks. One question. I'm not sure what you mean by autofill and auto submit on work for websites? So how do I login to the apps that aren't accepted (like Facebook)?

You can login via 1Password to Facebook only if you are going there via Safari, not the Facebook app.

    Hi @CBA,

I hope that hawkmoth's answers have helped you out here. To log in to apps that have not enabled 1Password support, you'll simply have to copy and paste your password. 1Password makes this easy with a swipe to copy feature: just open 1Password to your Login list, and swipe to the right to reveal the 'copy password' button on your chosen Login. Then switch back to the app and paste your password into the appropriate field.
