Cloud synching issues between iPhone 5 and MacBook Pro

According to my macbook, 1Password is synching all the time - however, all my passwords on my iPhone and iPad are out of date - all 1Passwords are set up to sync to the cloud. According to my iPhone, I'd have to hit "sync now", but if I do, I'm worried that it will replace the CORRECT passwords on the MacBook, not the other way around. Is this correct? Not sure what I should do. The help pages aren't... helpful. I've done everything on them.

    Sorry, we really need more information in order to help you. Please tell us:

    1. what versions of 1P you have on your Mac and on your iOS devices;
    2. your version numbers of OS X and iOS;
    3. exactly how you try to sync (you say "the cloud" but are you using iCloud or Dropbox?),

    I'm worried that it will replace the CORRECT passwords on the MacBook, not the other way around. Is this correct?

    Sync is bi-directional: new items on either device will replace older ones on the other.

    Hi @jenshaines‌

    Stephen_C's question about versions is very important here. When Apple released iOS 8 and Yosemite they released a new iCloud which they refer to in places by iCloud Drive. Part of the new iCloud is a new sync framework called CloudKit which we now use. Unfortunately it only works in iOS 8 and Yosemite. As a result, to sync via iCloud all your devices must either be running 1Password 5 or all must be running 1Password 4. In my mind this is the must likely reason but not the only one.

    Once we have a better idea of what versions of iOS, OS X and 1Password that you're running we'll know if this suspicion is correct.

    Of course if you're using Dropbox that doesn't apply so Stephen_C's question there is important too.

  • Hi @jenshaines‌,

    As @Stephen_C mentioned, to best determine the course of action, we would need to know the version numbers of 1Password and OS X/iOS that you're running on those devices, as well as the method of syncing you're using. iCloud? Dropbox? Wi-Fi?

    If you've only done edits on one side of the fence, then I wouldn't be worried about the older items replacing the newer items. If you've edited them on both sides, then we should detect that and store the edits from one of the sides as a conflict so that you can still get access to them and determine which is correct.

    Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Rick
