Sync timeout, 1Password mini crashing, Backup fails
Hi,
I recently upgraded to OS X 10.10 and 1Password 5. Now I have three problems:
- Syncing via Wifi fails (→ 1Password 5/iOS 8)
- During startup, 1Password mini crashes
- 1Password 5 fails to create backups "(null)"
How could these problems be related, and what can I do to solve them?
Thanks,
Jan

Is it at all possible that you have more than one copy of 1P5 on your disk or on any other disk attached to the Mac? (Usual suspects are copies hiding in the Downloads folder, in the Trash or on a backup disk.) If so, delete the second copy (and then empty the trash) which ought to resolve most of your problems (because Yosemite can get in a muddle if it finds more than one copy of 1P5 on your disk or on any disk attached to your Mac). You may have to reboot all devices after that to get wifi sync working.
That is only a guess on my part so if it's way off track do please post again.

Thanks for the quick reply. There's only a single copy of 1P5 on my Mac (→ /Applications), no additional disks are attached.

@jeo you might just try re-installing 1P5 to see if that solves the problems. Do this:
- Drag the 1P app to the trash (don't use any app cleaner tool, which is likely to try to delete files you need to keep).
- Empty the trash and reboot.
- Re-download and re-install 1P.

Hi @jeo,
Sorry to hear this hasn't been a smooth upgrade for you. Wi-Fi sync issues are likely due to the fact that we added features to Wi-Fi sync in v5, notably syncing of attachments. But there are cases where the syncing of attachments gets stuck in a loop and never finishes. This issue should be fixed in Mac 5.1 and iOS 5.2 which should be released soon.
When you get crashes of the mini, do you submit the crash reports? If so can you let me know the email address you used when submitting the crash report (via Private Message if necessary) so that I can look up the crash and see what's going on there?
Can you elaborate on the backup issue? Are you getting an error message? Any details there would be appreciated so that we can chase down the issue. I know that we fixed a couple issues with backups when a Mac was set to certain locales/languages but I don't remember these showing '(null)' anywhere.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Rick
