1password 4 availability

I'm intrigued with 1passwords ability to generate/store and then used (auto fill) random passwords for different accounts. But with roughly 25% of users still reporting stability and usability issues with OSX10.10.x I'm not inclined to update to the new OSX just yet. Even if I were, I doubt I'd use the iCloud functionality offered by 1password 5.
Therefore, is version 4 still available and supported, and other then the above mentioned synching are there major differences between the two versions? I do use iOS 8.x devices and would be synching with them via a local WiFI network.

  • Hi @MHH,

Thanks for writing in. 1Password 4 is still available and supported. You can still download 1Password 4 from our Downloads Page. It'll be listed near the bottom under Legacy. You can still purchase a license for it, though the license will be marked as a 1Password 5 license, but it'll work just fine in 1Password 4.

If you're looking to use Wi-Fi sync, then the major difference is going to be that in 1Password 4, you need to manually bring up the Wi-Fi sync window to do a sync with iOS, and it won't sync item attachments. But otherwise Wi-Fi sync should still work, even when using the latest version of 1Password 5 for iOS.

Hope I answered your question. Let me know if anything is still unclear.

    Rick
