Two issues
Hi.
I am having two problems, both on systems running 1P4 and Mavericks.
First, on my iMac, every time I launch Safari, I get a message telling me that an older version of the 1Password Extension is installed. I have gone through the uninstall steps, and I have installed the newer version. Safari's Extensions preference pane shows me that only the 1P4 extension is installed, yet I still get this message. How do I fix that? I don't know if it's related, but I seem to recall that this message only started appearing after my wife and I started sharing the iMac, using Fast User Switching.
Second, on my MacBook Pro, I am trying to manually create a new login (for some reason, it is not auto-saving a login for this particular site). There is a record for this site, but no username or password. Whenever I edit the record to add the username/password, I receive the message "database disk image is malformed" whenever I save the entry. How do I fix this?
Thanks.

Update: 1Password is also not syncing. I use Dropbox for syncing, and Dropbox shows up-to-date on both hosts.

Hi @unixdude
Thank you for mentioning Fast User Switching as that is the likely reason. I would check (or ask your wife to check) Safari in that user account for old versions of the 1Password extension. After you resolve it in the second account you should find that error message disappears.
Now for the "database disk image is malformed" error message. This is actually pretty bad but it is recoverable. The error message is informing us that the .sqlite database file has been damaged and we can't afford to trust it any more. Thankfully though 1Password creates regular backups. So what you want to do is enter 1Password's preferences and switch to the Backup tab. Select the newest backup from the list and click on the Restore button. To complete the restoration process 1Password will need to shut down and you'll need to manually start it again afterwards. I would then recommend trying to add the site again straight away to ensure the message does not repeat itself. If it does pick the next backup from the list and repeat. Despite how resilient databases are they can sadly still become damaged so it isn't anything you've done.
Let us know how you get along.

Thanks, it turns out that when I restored my wife's account, there was an old Safari Extension in there, and I removed that and upgraded her account to use 1P4. Also, I discovered that I hadn't configured Dropbox for her account on the iMac, so I got that fixed too.
And, restoring from backup fixed the other issue. I was concerned about losing logins, because I recently added several. I had to go back many backups to find one that was good (the first several gave the "database disk image is malformed" error), but I exported before I started, and I exported after restoring the good backup. I compared the exports to make sure I know which logins would need to be readded. I was able to successfully re-add all logins.
All is well again.
Thanks!

I spoke too soon. I added many passwords tonight, and my iMac has all of the latest data, but those changes are not being synced to my MacBook Pro. 1Password 4 on both systems shows that the sync completed in the last minute, but the MBP does not show the Passwords, Logins, Secure Notes, and Credit Card entries that I made tonight. How do I get this syncing again? I have looked through the KB but have not found the Dropbox sync troubleshooting suggestions. Thanks.

I have looked through the KB but have not found the Dropbox sync troubleshooting suggestions
This knowledge base article contains steps for troubleshooting Dropbox sync. If that doesn't help you could try re-setting Dropbox sync. There's a helpful post here from AgileBits explaining how to do that.

Hi Stephen. Thanks for the reply. I finally located that KB entry, because I finally figured out I had been looking at iP5 info, not iP4 info, and going into the iP4 section you find that KB entry. I went through those steps last night, and I can confirm that my iPhone and my iMac are syncing, but my MBP is not. I also went through the steps found in that helpful post link (although I restarted only my MBP, not the iMac), and they still do not get syncing working on my MBP.
I also created a new vault on the MBP and selected Dropbox sync for that, and it says it was last synced a few seconds ago but it does not pull down anything from Dropbox.
What should I try next? Thanks.

Stephen, I went back and did it again. I followed all of Jasper's suggestions including rebooting all systems. My iMac and iPhone sync fine (notes created or deleted on either get synced to both), but the MBP now tells me that a sync problem has been detected, and it tells me to update my preferences.
Then I decided to completely start over on the MBP, because I knew that the data in the iMac (and iPhone and Dropbox) is good. I followed the "Starting over" guide here -- https://learn2.agilebits.com/1Password4/Mac/en/KB/start-over.html -- and was able to get the MBP to work now. Secure notes created on any device sync to all devices and can be deleted from any device.
Thanks.

I'm very pleased you've managed to sort it. Sorry I was not able to respond earlier. I always feel a little wary responding to posts about Dropbox anyway as I have no personal experience of it so have to rely on what I've read here!
