Upgrade license confusion
Since version 5 came out 1password has been bugging me with pop-ups that there is a new version, so with a moment to spare today I finally ran the update from the app. Except when I load the program and use the license key installer link its says downloading but all I see is the same trial or 'buy' window in the application. Do I need to buy the new version of 5. A simple message that said "your key is not compatible" would be helpful. Of course I don't want pay to buy the application for a 3rd time if I don't have to (I've purchase multiple licenses for this very machine). So how do I confirm I actually need to buy another or Agile bits. As a user I'm confused the previous version worked and now I'm resenting this process,
Please advise.

If you paid to upgrade from version 3 to version 4, there shouldn't be a charge for the newest version. Did you buy from the AgileBits web store? If you did, you can get your license resent if you go to this page and enter the email address you used when you bought your license. You'll get an email reply with instructions for installing your license file.
There have been some users who have been receive false notices about expired licenses. That eventuality is covered in the first post in this section of the forum. Here is a direct link.

Thanks for the reply. I did purchase both previous versions and had requested the license key be resent, but I was getting the error as I mentioned above. I just restarted the application and the license seems to have taken so I'm all good. I guess it came down to the timeless "did you try restarting" method. In my case restarting was necessary for the license key to fix and the remove upgrade notice.

I'm glad to hear you've resolved the licensing issue and of course sorry you had a bit of a fight to do so. Now I did find a couple of separated records in our back office that might be related so I would like to ask the following from you please. Can you email us at support+licenses@agilebits.com please with the following information.

Once we've confirmed my suspicions we can merge these licences to make it easier for you to retrieve them. At the moment though there isn't enough information to say unequivocally that they're related.
