chrome extension opening new tabs?
I use chrome. Never had a problem. Just bought 1 password 5 (for mac) and installed extension on Chrome. Now, most of the time I click on links (either from google search or just from a regular web page), a new tab opens with a spammy ad (McAfee promotion or something like that).
Help! I was hoping 1password would simplify my life and it has gotten worse!

This is extremely unlikely to be anything associated with 1P. 1P does not generate spam of any kind. I suggest you look at what else you have installed recently which might have caused what you're seeing. Some downloads can hi-jack your browser in the way you describe, of course. Rest assured, 1P is most definitely not one of them.
Edit: I'm assuming you downloaded 1P from either the Mac App Store or direct from AgileBits. If you downloaded from some unauthorised third party site all bets are off.

Hi @dfhkvs,
If you've downloaded 1Password from one of our official locations (Apple's Mac App Store (MAS) or our AgileBits Download page) then it has to be a really bad coincidence if the two seemed connected.
If you can let us know exactly where you downloaded not just 1Password from but also the 1Password extension we'll see if they match the official locations.
