Change Password for Website
I recently changed the password for my account on a self-hosted wordpress site. I used the 1password password generator to make a new password, and updated the password within 1password. When I went to log back into my wordpress site, 1password was still entering the old password. I opened the login information in 1password, and it showed the password as being updated. It was not until I clicked on "show web form details" did another box come up with a second place to input the password. It still contained the old password, and I had to copy the password from the main password box to the web form password box (If this makes any sense) Is there a way for an updated password to automatically transfer to the web form box? Hi @ericlericl,
1Password didn't prompt to auto-save the data for you?
Can you tell us which versions you're using for:
- 1Password and OS X
- the web browser you're using and the 1Password extension installed for that browser
there a way for an updated password to automatically transfer to the web form box?
It already does that but you have to tag the specific web field as the site's password. In the third column of the web forms, you'd see the icon for username/password like this:
That's how 1Password extension knows which fields belong to the username or the password in your main Login section.
However, you should not be editing the web form details unless it is the last resort. This is raw data that the extension uses to fill in your data. The best way is to tell 1Password to update your password manually if 1Password did not prompt to auto-save. Here's how it works:
- Go to the site's login page, enter the username and the new password but do not submit the form
- Click on the 1Password icon to select the gear icon on top right to select Save New Login
- In the auto-save prompt, click on the dropdown menu to select Update existing login in <vaultname> instead.
