family 1password plan, can't load onto new device
Hi,
I share a family 1password account with my husband, we have individual accounts and a shared one. Mine is connected to my dropbox, and when I was signing into 1password for the first time on my new computer it wouldn't let me choose my main "1password" folder in my dropbox, it would only let me choose our shared one (which I was able to access fine.) How do I gain access to my main 1password folder?
Thanks,
Kristina

Hi @kristianb,
Sorry for these troubles in setting up your new machine.
Can I ask, did you open up your shared vault and now it always opens when you launch 1Password?
If it does then the first thing we need to do is follow the Starting Over guide for your version of 1Password. Don't worry, none of your vaults will be touched by this, it's just about returning 1Password to a blank slate so we can get it to pick the correct vault.
Having followed the guide (all the steps are important, including the reboot due to aggressive caching in OS X) are you greeted with the following screen when you first launch it?
Now you'll notice I've underlined part of the text. This doesn't always appear unless 1Password finds more than one vault but when it does it should have that text and it will respond to being clicked. When you do you should see a small menu similar to the next screenshot.
Now if you see this I am hoping you can see your primary vault and select it. All going well you should have 1Password set up on this new machine with the primary vault in its correct place. To add your secondary vault you would then simply double click on the .agilekeychain for that vault.
Now if this isn't what you're seeing or you have any questions do please post back here and we'll continue the troubleshooting.

Hi LittleBobbyTables,
Thanks for the response.
I was able to reset my 1password, so it's as if I'm signing up for the first time again. My new problem is, when I go to try to select my main 1password folder it will not let me. I can select my "shared folder", the one with the agilebits key chain. But it won't let me select my main vault.
I am part of a family plan. My husband is the one who purchased the family plan, and I'm the "other person". Could that have something to do with why I cannot choose my 1password folder in my own dropbox?
Thanks
Kristina

Never mind!
I got it to work. My husband pointed out I hadn't ever officially synced that folder so that did the trick.

It's great to hear you're reporting success even if there was a minor blip on the way
