How "secure" is 1Password? Also: Compare v3.8.22 to the latest version v5.1

Is it worth to upgrade from v3.8.22 to v5.1?

What encryption mechanisms (AES? Rijndael?) do both versions use?
Can you give me some more in-depth details about 1Password's security (for v3 and v5)
