i have some attached files in secure notes that can not be deleted. My question is when i remove them from 1password5 by clicking on the red symbol where do they go? they do not appear to go into trash (in which case i would deleted them permanently from there) and my concern is that they are still somewhere on my computer?
sorry to ask what is probably a simple question

    Hi @bsna04,

Actually, that's a great question! The following should help to answer that:

    • When you edit an item and delete an attachment, it's deleted from your 1Password vault as soon as you save the changes to that item.
    • If you delete an item that contains an attachment, that item and its attachment will stay in the Trash in 1Password until you empty it.
    • When you add or view an attachment in 1Password, a copy of that attachment will be in a temp folder on your Mac until 1Password is locked. As soon as it's locked, that temp folder is securely erased.

So to summarize, once you delete an attachment (or delete an item and empty the Trash), then lock 1Password, all traces of the attachment will be gone (aside from your 1Password backups, of course).

Does that answer your questions? If you have more, just let us know, we'll be happy to answer them. :)
