1Password Mini shortcut issue

I have been having problem recently with 1Password mini keyboard shortcut on two different macs using predominately 1Password 5.1 + Yosemite + Safari on one and 1Password 4 v4.4.3 + Maverick + Firefox on the other. Syncing using DropBox. Until recently, typing command-\ would pop up a list if there were multiple accounts for the website. You would then use arrow keys to navigate the the account you wanted to use. Now, mini autofills and submits without asking which account to use. Also, if on a non-login page, such as a shopping cart, and you attempt to fill in credit card details, it also auto submits those pages without giving you a chance to verify and correct any misinformation. Sometimes re-booting the mac will bring back the normal behavior, but today that has not helped.

Is anyone else seeing this problem?

    Hi @kswisher,

You're quite right, that's very odd behaviour.

The only aspect these two machines could have in common are the version of Firefox and the 1Password browser extension. Could you let us know those version numbers please.

Now 1Password mini matches on the website field (URL). It might be worth checking a couple that you know aren't behaving as they once did and seeing if anything has changed there, do they all still share the same URL and if you edit the items in question do they all still have the same setting for the display field (only visible when editing - sorry). Now both of these can't be the issue if I've misunderstood and you're saying rebooting the Mac resume normal ⌘\ behaviour (I read it as that applies to filling in credit cards).

I can't help but suspect the 1Password extension at the moment so once we know the versions involved we have a better idea.

OK, the Yosemite mac is running 1Pass 5.1, Safari 8.0.3, with extension 4.2.5. The Mavericks mac is running 1Pass 4.2.5, Firefox 35.0.1, with extension 4.2.5. I usually have auto submit on, but have turned it off for now.

After checking, I found the URLs are different. After making the wellsfargo URLs the same, I got the expected behavior. Ugh, It didn't used to behave like this. Re-booting may be a red herring as I probably don't visit the same pages after the reboot that were giving me problems before.

The comment about filling in credit card details is probably a completely different issue. Been meaning to submit a bug report for several months. For some time (1 year?), when on most shopping cart pages, and ask 1Pass to fill in credit or identity information, the page is almost always auto submitted. There is no submit setting in the identities or credit card info to disable auto submit for those categories.

  • Hi @kswisher,

It didn't used to behave like this.

We did change the behavior a while ago where 1Password is more intelligent about matching Logins to the website addresses. If you want, you can try to turn this off and see if it works as you expect. To do this, open the main 1Password app, go to the 1Password Menu > Preferences > Browser and check Lenient URL Matching.

There is no submit setting in the identities or credit card info to disable auto submit for those categories.

That's because we don't submit with Identities or credit cards at all, we intentionally do not do this because it is too risky.

It is possible the site is doing this automatically when it detects some kind of events. Can you give us an example where it happens, so we can test to see what's going on?
