MacBook Pro and iMac Syncing with IOS devices
My husband and I have a number of Apple devices: a Mac, a MacBook Pro, 2 iPhones, and 2 iPads. We run 1Password on all of them. Because one iPhone and the MacBook Pro are our newest additions, it wasn’t until yesterday that I realized the MacBook Pro acts like a Mac; that is, as a main device from which you can sync the various IOS devices. According to your newest documentation, I can’t sync the MacBook Pro with the Mac via WiFi. I’m concerned that we’re going to end up with various versions of the same vault.
Isn’t there a way we can sync all of the devices to the Mac via WiFi so everything is the same on all of them? If not, please describe in detail the workflow I should use.
I thought, if I made a change on one device, it would automatically update the other devices without having to sync. Am I dreaming?
By the way, I LOVE 1Password! It’s made our lives so much easier having a place to store all our passwords. It seems EVERYTHING requires logons and passwords these days. Some day I will figure out how to stop 1Password from asking me if I want to save a password when I logon to a website, and stop Apple Keychain from wanting to store all the passwords! LOL! I guess I’ll ask Apple about that one!
All of our devices are updated with the current versions of Mac IOS and 1Password 5.

To be strictly accurate the only way for a change on one device to be present on the others is through synchronisation, whether that synchronisation is automatic and happening in the background or in some sort of more manual way e.g. ensuring 1Password is open and the vault unlocked on both the iOS and Mac at the same time for Wi-Fi Sync.
Now with the number of devices you have and the fact that you have multiple Macs involved you may find that Dropbox or possibly iCloud Sync will make your life easier. Both work roughly in the same way, they're a cloud service so they would hold sync data on your behalf and when each device is ready it would contact that cloud service and download all the recent updates. It happens automatically and it doesn't care how many Macs and iOS devices you have, well as long as they aren't all trying to hammer the service at the exact same time.
Dropbox is a separate company and you can get a personal 2GB storage space for free by registering. It doesn't just have to be used for 1Password either, you may find it handy for keeping other stuff in sync between your two Macs. iCloud is Apple's cloud service and is tied to your Apple ID. It also changed a lot recently so either you're running 1Password 4 on all devices or all 1Password 5 but you can't mix the versions (Dropbox however doesn't care what you're running). You say you're running 1Password 5 everywhere so that's not an issue. What may be though is 1Password 5 makes use of something called the CloudKit framework for the iCloud Sync. As of iOS 8 and Yosemite access to these frameworks is now limited to applications or apps coming from Apple's stores. All iOS apps come from iTunes so your iOS devices are fine but 1Password 5 for Mac can be purchased either from Apple's Mac App Store (MAS) or direct from us at our Agile Web Store (AWS). So where you purchased 1Password 5 for Mac will affect if you can use iCloud.
Let us know what you think. If you don't have objections to cloud services then you have the two options and they really are the easiest and most automated after you've got past the setup. If on the other hand you don't want to use any cloud service at all then you'll need to look into the use of Folder Sync to keep the two Macs synchronised. It's messier (sorry) as the two cloud services we support handle the syncing for us. That means those that go down the route of Folder Sync have to use a third party sync tool such as rsync or ChronoSync. This we label as advanced just so you know.
As I say, let us know what you think and we can assist with formulating a plan.

@littlebobbytables thank you so much for your detailed response. I believe we have satisfactorily come up with a plan. I decided to update the vault on my MacBook Pro by syncing via iCloud, then syncing the iOS devices via wifi. It's a little bit of juggling, but it seems like the least path of resistance. I'll definitely update you if I run in to issues, or have something more to share. Thank you again!

I'm glad I could assist.
Now as you're using iCloud to sync the Macs you might be able to remove the Wi-Fi Sync from the equation to simplify and automate the syncing even more.
What it comes down to is if you and your husband share a single Apple ID over all the devices and simply want to share a single vault. If the answer to both is yes then there's no reason you couldn't disable Wi-Fi Syncing and change to iCloud there too.
If it's something you like the sound of and would like guidance please let us know and we can help
