Software Licence numbers and PINs
I have been using 1Password for some time for online banking and other things. However, I have never used it to store the PINs I have for various credit cards and the licence numbers needed for much software. Is there a good way to do this in 1 Password and, if so, what should I be doing.
As an example, could both these items be kept in the same place/file/whatever or should they be separate?
Thanks for any input.

Hi @rappar,
Credit Card and Bank Account categories both have PIN fields. Software Licenses do not have PINs (which are typically for telephone verification, but they do have a license key field). If you don't like that the license key is not concealed when 1Password is open, you could add a new custom field and set the type to Password to keep the PIN normally concealed (just be sure the license fits into a single line of data).
Does this help?

I don't think I explained myself very well. I have one set of credit cards where I have recorded the PIN associated with the card. I'd like to do this with all my cards but don't seem to have much luck adding additional cards. How do I do that?
Then, I am starting to build up a reasonable number of software licence numbers. I'd like to have a record of them in Password too if I could and people think that is wise. If it is a smart move, how do I create a list of software titles and the associated licence number?
Do I have to log on to the sites associated with the PINs and licence numbers and do it from within that file or is it possible to just create a file where they are recorded?
Thanks,

I'm probably still not following you, but let's see if this helps.
For every Credit Card you have (that is, the combination of unique bank, CC #, expiration date, PIN, etc.) add a new Credit Card item in 1Password and enter all the relevant information for that card. File > New Item > Credit Card.
Do similarly for each Software License you have - create a Software License item, and enter the information. Note: one or more apps can be dragged-and-dropped onto an empty area in the list of items, and a new Software License entry will appear - you'll have to fill in the license and other info, however.
To see a list of your Software Licenses you have entered into 1Password, just select the Software License category in the Category list.
1Password doesn't need you to login to any websites to obtain your software licenses. Rather, you would need that data so that you can enter the data into 1Password. Perhaps you have these licenses written down, or stored in some text notes files, etc.
Software licenses vary - some requires logging into a site, and then you download a licensed version of the software (accessible because you logged into their secure site via your verified credentials). You might record the download URL in the Software License, and then also create a Login item in 1Password that helps you automatically log into the site to re-download the software in the future.
Other software requires a license key or chunk of data that you enter into some area in the user interface (e.g. License, or Add License Key, License Manager, etc.). Typically when you purchase the software, the vender will provide that key, or email it to you later. This is the data you can record into 1Password's license key area of a Software License.
Does that help?

Hi @rappar,
I hope MrC's answer was helpful for you! If the problem is that you don't know how to create new items in 1Password, then the important thing to know is that you can open the main 1Password app and go to File > New Item, then choose the type of item you want to add (as MrC mentioned).
If you have more questions or need anything else, please let us know! :)
