Hi,

I changed my address in my contact info under identities, but every time I go to fill in a form it still fills in my old address. Using1P5.1 on OS 10.10.2

Thanks,
Fred

    Hi @fkgoodwin,

That's definitely odd! Is it possible you didn't click the Save button after changing your address in that Identity item? To check that, open the main 1Password app, select the Identities category in the left sidebar, then select the Identity item you changed. In the lower right corner of the window, you should see either an Edit button or a Resume Editing button. If you see Resume Editing, that means you didn't save the changes. Click that button, then click Save. Now it should work correctly when filling your address into a form.

If that's not the problem, please let us know and we'll take it from there. Thanks!

although it no longer seems to suggest the entry in the appropriate field. In the past, when I started to type the first few characters of my name or address in a form, a box would come up and if selected it would populate the fields. That is no longer happening. If I go to 1Password extension and choose my identity, it will fill it in however.

I have re-started my browser and still not offering to populate.

  • Hi @fkgoowin,

That's great, I'm glad Drew was able to help here. On his behalf, you're welcome.

It sounds like you're referring to the auto-completion based on the browser's form history, this is a feature of your browser, and we don't do this because we do not store your data in the browser. To fill in your identity data, you have to invoke 1Password first to select the identity to fill. The reason is because we have to decrypt your data first before we can pass it into the fields.

If you had it working before, it is because you configured the browser to store the data. If you recently reset the browser history or cache, it will also reset that form history.

This wasn't a browser autofill I think, there are some nonsecure websites that I have Safari autofill and that is different. I'm not sure I naming the feature correctly, but it used to be when I was in a form and began typing my address or name a box would pop up from 1P asking if I wanted to fill it out using my identity. I've been using this for years throughout the 1P versions. Now, I start typing an address and nothing happens. I am able to fill it in by going to thee browser extension and selecting my identity, but I miss the old pop up window as it was easier and faster.

    Hi @fkgoodwin,

1Password doesn't offer to fill forms or make any suggestions when you start typing in a form on a website, but that's a common feature in web browsers. So, from your description, it still sounds like this is something your browser had been doing previously. 1Password never fills a form on a website unless you explicitly tell it to do so by double-clicking a Login item in the main 1Password app, or by invoking the 1Password extension in your web browser.

I'm sorry I don't have the answer you were hoping for! If you'd like to check out Safari's AutoFill settings, you can go to Safari > Preferences > AutoFill. If you have more questions about that, please let us know. :)
