Security questions

In addition to filling in credentials, can you have 1Password answer security questions that some sites require on a regular basis? If not, that would be a huge time saver and would add much to the product's utility.

    Hi @garybil,

I have a couple of questions

    1. Are you being asked for the same security question each time?
    2. Or are you being asked different ones from a selection?
    3. If from a selection are you being asked more than one randomly select question on the same page or different ones?

There are a couple of scenarios in there.

If it's 1. then you can create a simple Login item for it and that should work. To be honest though this seems the most unlike scenario.

If it's a single security question per page then you can create different Login items (like above) and choose accordingly.

If it's option 3 that's tougher. The best you can hope for in that instance is to add each question and answer as custom fields in your Login item. You could then use copy and paste to at least help a little but we don't have a way to automate a selection from one or more fields when when randomly selected.

If your situation doesn't fit into those that I've thought of please do let us know. If you have any further questions or need something explained in more detail also post back please

Yes, put them in custom fields, or notes. You would have to copy and paste rather than fill automatically. There are actually ways of getting an automatic fill, but that would involve one login item for each security question.

Some people (not me) use copy and paste to give arbitrary answers, created using the password generator, to security questions.

    Hi @Garybil,

Look forward to hearing more about your situation and if anything we've posted so far helps at all.

Hello, appreciate danco's suggestion and it's what I am doing already; would have preferred an easy way to automatically respond to challenge questions (without duplicating logins), but "you can't always get what you want" :) Maybe some day?

We hope so, it's about coming up with something that works. The (very) tricky part is working with all the potential ways somebody can design such a page.
