Removing Duplicate Entries in database
I am new to 1Password. When I synced my vault with my laptop, after creating it with my desktop machine, I duplicated all my entries---so 682 entries became 1364. I'm not going to use the Duplicates finder to manually delete 682 entries. Is there an alternative? The machines are: Macintosh 2.66 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, 8 GB 1066 MHz DDR3, OS X 10.10.2, running 1P5; and Retina MacBookPro, 15”, 2.0 GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR SDRAM, 1 TB PCIe-based Flash Storage, Intel Iris Pro Graphics, Mac OS X 10.9.5, running 1P4.
Thanks!

Hi @Dr_T,
Well the first step is obviously to undo this duplication.
My suggestion is to consider restoring a backup created prior to this event. On your Mac (in contrast to the MacBook Pro) I would open 1Password's preferences and switch to the Backup tab. In there you will see a list of locally created backups. What you're looking for is one prior to the sync that duplicated everything. To restore it you would select the backup at which point the Restore button is now enabled allowing you to click on it.
Please note, this will undo everything that has happened since that point. So it will include any additions or changes as well as the duplication caused by the sync. If you have items you know you've changed you will want to make a record of those changes, maybe by selecting just those records and exporting them in the
.1pif
format for later (File > Export > Selected Items...). The restore will also disable sync as a precaution which is advisable in this case anyway. That's the quickest way to undo this. Now this can apply to your MacBook Pro too, it depends on if you created the vault and then synced it immediately, if you did that then there probably won't be a backup to use yet. In that case you'd want to follow our Starting over guide on the MacBook Pro to return 1Password 4 to a clean state.
The question I don't have the answer to yet is why this happened. Each item has an UUID, a Universally Unique ID and when we sync if two items have the same UUID we merge them. How did you create and populate the vault on your MacBook Pro? Once we understand this a little better we can work on getting sync working properly.
So hopefully when you post back you'll have tamed the duplications and if you can let us know a little more about how you set up the MacBook Pro we can get the two working together

On behalf of @littlebobbytables, you're very welcome! :) Let us know how it all goes, and we'll be happy to continue working with you on this if necessary. Thanks!

Weird. I went back to my "Mac" (QuadCore) to do as you asked and there weren't duplicates! I'm going to keep your "fix" should I run into the problem in the future. Thanks!
