New passwords aren't working.
Hi,
I'm currently running:
Mac OS X 10.10.2
1Password 5.1 (510027)
First of all, my previous passwords, generated and saved before a couple of weeks ago works just fine.
But my newly generated passwords don't.
Situation 01:
This started happening a few days ago, I used the Password Generator tool for a website, it saved the user/pass but when trying to enter the website with commmand+\ it just wouldn't login.
So I selected the login, hovered over the password, clicked on "reveal", copied it to the clipboard and then it worked.
So in this case it seems to be some trouble with the autofilling feature.
Situation 02:
I just wasn't able to login to Wordpress.com . I asked the e-mail to reset the password. Clicked on it, resetted it using the "Password Generator" tool and saved it.
Right after that, I clicked on login, and wasn't able to login with this fresh password.
I assumed the same issue was happening again, so I copied the new password to the clipboard and pasted it.
This time it didn't work. So basically I can't login to Wordpress.
There was still a previous situation but I forgot about it.
Am I the only one facing this? I couldn't find any other related topic. How do I fix this?
Thank you,
Jonathan

Situation1 occurs if the password you created is longer than the site will accept. Unfortunately, many sites do not give information about what length is permitted (or even what characters are accepted). Could that be your problem?

Hi @jsoifer,
For Situation 01, danco's theory is certainly a possibility. Some sites have an "invisible cap" on the characters that can be typed in the password field. If you used the 1Password extension to generate a longer password than the site allows, that site may have silently ignored the extra characters that exceeded the limit. If that's the case, copying & pasting the password works in a way that the website ignores any extra characters, so it works. But filling it with the 1Password extension works a bit differently, so the site might give an error.
If you can find out what restrictions that site has for their passwords, you can check to see if your generated password fit within those restrictions. If it doesn't, you can change your password on that site, and adjust the password generator appropriately.
For Situation 02, it sounds like your actual password for that site is different than the one recorded in 1Password. When you changed your password and used the password generator in the 1Password extension, did 1Password prompt you to update your Login item for that site? If you need to reset your password on the site again, please make sure you follow the steps in our User Guide here: Changing a saved password
Does that help? Please let us know how it goes, thanks!
