Tried to update 4, ended up with 5. Just want 4 to work right...
Hello,
I have had lots of issues with 1PW4 updates. Basically, it never works. I'm not a computer whiz so I just need things to work the way they were intended, and not have to do 'fixes'. Since the updates would not work, I was sent to the AgileBits website to "update" and ended up with 1PW 5 instead of updates for 4. Not having time to un-do that, I let it ride and found it not to be too much different than four, which doesn't work with Chrome for some reason.
Anyhow, I would just like 4 to work and not have to pay again for 5 since I just use the very basics of the software to begin with. How can I get rid of 5 and get 4 to work properly, and maybe even actually update, instead of just sending constant reminders to do so, only to fail every single time?
Would appreciate some help please.
Thank you,
Dennis

Hi @551Dennis,
Sounds like you're running OS X Yosemite, if 1Password 5 works at all. If you're on Yosemite, we highly recommend that you use 1Password 5. It's a free upgrade for all 1Password 4 license owners.
But, if you really want to use 1Password 4, you're allowed to do that, too. You'll want to do two things:
- You'll need to completely uninstall 1Password 5. This won't delete your password data, just the app itself. This should be as simple as dragging the 1Password 5.app file into the Trash, and rebooting your Mac. The reboot is required to make sure OS X doesn't do anything silly like try to run 1Password 5 from the Trash.
- Download 1Password 4 from our website. I linked directly to the download there.
If you're on Yosemite, 1Password 4 will keep offering to update you to 1Password 5. You'll want to turn off checks for updates under Preferences > Updates.
I hope this helps.
Rick
