Update Existing Login always grayed out

I only recently started using the 1password browser extensions but I have an extensive collection of passwords already managed within 1password.

Most of those logins don't have the "Website" field filled in. I've been starting to use the 1password mini and the command+\ shortcut to fill in forms, but I'm finding trouble with existing sites that I already have a password saved for.

When I manually copy and paste the login information, I see 1password mini popping up asking if I want to "Save a new login." I already have a login for this, so I'd like to update the existing one with a "website" field, and sometimes a username.

Why isn't this an option? Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

    Hi @johnkpaul,

Unfortunately the Update existing Login's behaviour is based on the very field you're wanting the update to add. What happens when the Update existing Login option is enabled is the text field for the name of a new Login item turns into a menu where the list is based on URL matching.

You have one of two options.

    1. You create a new Login item using the extension, test it make sure all is well and discard the original.
    2. Manually edit the original and add website fields as you go.

One small benefit of option 1. is that the extension will capture more information about the specific page. Sometimes this can be quite useful for knowing how to fill in a page.

Let us know how you get along or if you have any follow up questions.
