Confused at start.

I now have version 3.8.22 and version 5. Version 5 acts like this is my first time with 1Password. How do I get my hundreds of old passwords transferred to the new system?

@rrmatey on the assumption you're talking about 1P for Mac rather than 1P for iOS I've moved your post from the Lounge to the 1P for Mac forum, where you'll get more help.

    Hi @rrmatey,

Do you have 1Password 3 and 5 on the same Mac? And if so, is all your data in 1Password 3?

If you happen to already have Dropbox sync set up in 1Password 3, then you can set up Dropbox sync in 1Password 5 to get all your data there (during the setup of version 5, choose "I've used 1Password before" and then choose the Dropbox option).

If you don't have Dropbox sync set up in version 3, you can migrate your data to version 5 by following these steps:

    • First, open 1Password 5 and set it up as a new user, and choose the same master password you used for version 3. You should end up with a new, empty vault in 1Password 5.

    • Next, open 1Password 3 and go to the menu for 1Password > Preferences.

    • Select the General tab.
    • Right-click somewhere in the Data File path and choose Show In Finder.
    • Copy the .agilekeychain file to the Desktop.

Now you can sync that keychain file with your new vault in 1Password 5:

    • Open 1Password 5 and go to the menu for 1Password > Preferences.
    • Select Sync, then choose Folder from the “Sync vault with” pop-up menu.
    • Choose the .agilekeychain file you copied from version 3.

You should now have all your data in 1Password 5. Please let us know how it all goes and if you have any questions. Thanks!
