how to safely access my 1Psswd logins *via USB stick* while travelling without my Mac
I will be travelling without a computer, but may need to log into certain sites from a public or friend's computer. I'd rather not make a handwritten list of all my logins & passwords... would prefer to store my 1Passwd data on a USB stick directly. Can I put my 1Password 5 data on a USB stick, so that I can access whatever logins I might need, without leaving my data on the foreign computer? What are the steps, please? (I don't want to do the Cloud, or dropBox or device synching, etc.... just want the data at hand, in case I ned to retrieve it; from there, I can manually enter any forgotten passwords or logins.)
Thanks!

@bree: Unfortunately it can be very difficult to access 1Password using only data stored on a USB thumbdrive. Here are your options for accessing 1Password away from your own computer:
- The least fiddly way is using one of the mobile apps -- but it sounds like that might not be an option for you.
- The next best thing would be to use 1PasswordAnywhere by storing your 1Password.agilekeychain in Dropbox -- but you mentioned reluctance to store your data in the cloud. (If security is a concern, keep in mind your 1Password data is encrypted before it ever leaves your computer, and neither Dropbox nor anyone else can decrypt it without your Master Password.) This works in the latest version of the major browsers, since it does not require local file access, and you can access 1PasswordAnywhere using
1Password.agilekeychain/1Password.html
inside Dropbox once you have set up Dropbox Sync. - Finally, it is in some cases possible to use 1PasswordAnywhere locally (for instance from a USB drive) but the current versions of the major web browsers actually prevent webpages from accessing the local machine. You would need to find an older browser that allows this access, and the only one I know of off the top of my head is Safari for Windows, as it has not been updated for quite some time. If the browser you are using does not allow local file access, you will see an error similar to this:
You can always tell how you are accessing 1PasswordAnywhere by looking at the address bar: it will showfile://
if you are viewing a local file orhttps://
if it is being accessed through the website.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. :)
