Why must I keep reenterring my password?
I need to reenter my password often, even sooner than I should have to based on my settings. I am thinking this has to do with the settings on my macbook air or in 1password so I will list them below:
MacBook Air
energy saver: computer sleep-never, display sleep-never, hard disk to sleep when possible, wake for wi-fi access, enable power nap when plugged in
security-general: login password has been set for this user
1password preferences
security, lock when fast user switching, lock after computer idle for 80 minutes, clear clipboard after 90 seconds
So, can I get 1password to only ask for the password after 80 minutes?

lock after computer idle for 80 minutes
This means that, in order to avoid locking 1P, the computer has to be completely idle for 80 minutes, so I don't think you're going to achieve what you want with that setting. Have you ensured Lock on sleep and Lock when screen saver is activated are both not checked?

Hi Stephen,
You may have misunderstood my question. I'd be happy if 1password waited until 80 minutes of non-use had occurred. It can lock up after a much shorter period without the screen saver or sleep occurring. I did check and lock on sleep is off. I couldn't find the preference for lock when screen saver is activated but I did push the screen saver out to sixty minutes. I am running system 10.10.1 by the way. Any other ideas?

I have a couple of thoughts on this. The default is for it to be enabled but have you altered the setting in the General tab of 1Password's preferences titled Always keep 1Password mini running? 1Password mini is what controls the timers so if it isn't running the idle setting won't work as expected. The other possibility that is related is if 1Password mini crashes that will lock 1Password for reasons of security.
So I'm curious as to the state of that setting (enabled or disabled) and the other thing to look for is, is the 1Password icon present or not when you see 1Password is locked. Here's the tricky part though, you need to either check for the absence of the icon before trying to open 1Password or look for the telltale sign of another icon appearing in your menu bar. That or we can look at the output from a diagnostic report for you if you wish.
We'd probably recommend installing 10.10.2 unless you have good reason not to. These are mostly about security updates so worth installing.
Anyway, does either of those look like they could explain what you're observing?

Hey, thanks for the second look. "Always keep 1password mini running" is enabled so that is ruled out. I am 99% sure I would notice if the 1password icon was missing or crashed. The good news is the problem appears to have gone away! I think the change to the screen saver from five minutes to one hour made the difference (at least it is the only thing I changed). I see that at least one other poster had a similar problem. I'll be interested to see if this gets figured out over time.

Joe

Good to hear that the problem went away. If it comes back, please let us know so that we can try to take another look at it. If there's a bug there, we'd love to get it fixed.
