I read a bit about this two-versions issue (without really understanding it) and bought an App Store license on top of my regular AgileBits license to see if I could get my iPhone to autopopulate login fields from my 1password database. I've been using Dropbox happily for a long time but never liked having to use the 1browser app instead of Mobile Safari. Was I wrong in thinking I read that 1password now works with Safari that way and that running the MAS version would solve my issue? I've also had a lot of weird issues with both copies of 1password together in my Applications folder. The browser extensions would repeatedly claim they weren't installed and I think it was because 1password Mini wasn't decided on which copy of the 1password app it was talking to. I've now deleted the the non-MAS version and am hoping I can get the app to sync to both Dropbox and iCloud simultaneously but that doesn't look like an option. Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Hi @humann,

I hope you don't mind, but I moved your message to a new thread since it's a bit different than the question in the previous discussion.

Sorry for any confusion about the web store and Mac App Store versions of 1Password for Mac! There are a few different topics here, so I wanted to explain each one:

I read a bit about this two-versions issue (without really understanding it) and bought an App Store license on top of my regular AgileBits license to see if I could get my iPhone to autopopulate login fields from my 1password database.

The differences between the web store and Mac App Store versions of 1Password for Mac don't really have anything to do with filling login forms in websites on your iPhone. That would just be related to the version of 1Password for iOS (I'll get to that in a bit). The main difference between the web store and Mac App Store versions of 1Password for Mac is that only the Mac App Store version has the iCloud Sync option (both versions support Dropbox and Wi-Fi sync).

I've been using Dropbox happily for a long time but never liked having to use the 1browser app instead of Mobile Safari.

Dropbox sync has nothing to do with which browser you use on your iPhone. The sync method you use is just the way your 1Password data is copied back and forth between your Mac and iPhone.

Was I wrong in thinking I read that 1password now works with Safari that way and that running the MAS version would solve my issue?

1Password 5 for iOS does indeed work with Safari on iOS 8 (using a new extension), but that has nothing to do with which version of 1Password is on your Mac. Even if you didn't own a Mac at all, you could still use the 1Password extension in Safari on your iPhone as long as you have 1Password 5 for iOS installed on it.

I've also had a lot of weird issues with both copies of 1password together in my Applications folder. The browser extensions would repeatedly claim they weren't installed and I think it was because 1password Mini wasn't decided on which copy of the 1password app it was talking to. I've now deleted the the non-MAS version...

Yes, having both the web store and Mac App Store versions of 1Password 5 for Mac installed at the same time can cause some issues (especially on Yosemite), and that probably explains the problems you described. Is it working correctly now that you deleted the web store version?

...and am hoping I can get the app to sync to both Dropbox and iCloud simultaneously but that doesn't look like an option.

That's correct, Dropbox and iCloud sync cannot be enabled for your vault at the same time. Is there a reason you wanted to do that? (Keep in mind that has nothing to do with filling login forms on websites on your iPhone.) Do you need any help to set up one of the sync options between your Mac and iPhone?

Now, to get back to filling logins on your iPhone in Safari: If you're using iOS 8 and 1Password 5 on your iPhone, you can use the 1Password extension in Safari to fill your login info. To enable and use the extension in Safari, follow these steps.

We have more information in our Extension FAQ.

I hope that helps, but please let us know if you have more questions or need more help with any of that. Thanks!
