Multiple vaults and sharing with wife

My wife and I both have Apple Mac, iPhones and iPads. I've been using 1Password (v5) from the Mac AppStore and the latest iOS versions on all devices. I have bought and paid for all the apps on my systems and my wife's devices.

I got my wife started using 1Password on her Mac before your upgrade added the multiple vault feature and so, while it took her time to start using it, she has about 12 to 15 passwords but it's on her account. On mine I have over 340. I would like to be able to create a second vault that my wife could use (maybe merge with her dozen passwords so they don't need to be re-entered) and have it sync with her devices. I want her very comfortable with 1Password so that, if the need ever arises, she can get access to all of my accounts, etc.

I'm currently syncing via Dropbox. But my wife would need to sync via a different method because our Dropbox accounts are different.

I'm not sure if I'm explaining my conundrum well enough but I hope you can give me some assistance.

@Rggpr: That was an excellent explanation. Though I'm sure it helps that I have a similar arrangement with my wife... ;)

What I did was create the secondary vault, put it in a separate folder in Dropbox, and shared that folder with my wife's Dropbox account. Once the shared folder syncs to her computer, all she needs to do is double-click the vault to open it in 1Password.

There's actually a great vault sharing guide in our knowledgebase, and be sure to let me know if you have any questions! :)

Thank you @brenty. I will attempt to follow your suggestion. I'm not sure how to "put [the secondary vault] in a separate folder in Dropbox. If I can figure that out, then I know how to share that folder with my wife (not sure about "sharing it with my wife's Dropbox account), though. I share a Dropbox folder by clicking on the share icon and then it let's me enter an email address. How does she them pull it into her Dropbox account? Sorry for being a little dense. I will, in the meantime, watch the "vault sharing guide" for some education. :-)

I've done exactly what you described. I can't believe it. But now how do I merge the dozen or so passwords from her 1Password into the vault I just created and shared with her over a separate folder in Dropbox?

@Rggpr: It was easier than you though, eh? :)

The next step isn't too bad either. Once you've got the vaults you need to work with in 1Password (both the source and the destination, which you can add to 1Password by double-clicking them in Finder), just select the items you want to send, right-click on them, and then go to Share > [vault name] > and then you can select Move or Copy. That's it!

You can also find more detailed information on exactly how Dropbox folder sharing works on their site. I hope this helps! :)
