The system launched an incorrect version of 1Password mini.
I received the error message, "The system launched an incorrect version of 1Password mini." when I tried to launch 1Password on my iMac. The error message indicated it tried to open something on my Backup drive. I went to the help section and found the following "solution":
Backup drives
If you use a backup program such as Time Machine, SuperDuper! or Carbon Copy Cloner, backed-up copies of the 1Password app may be conflicting with the main app installed on your Mac.
To avoid this problem, make sure that your backup drive is disconnected when you launch 1Password.
I understand that this may not seem like a big deal, but to expect a user to reach around the back of the device to unplug a cable every time they want to launch the app doesn't seem like a good solution. Is there any way to direct the app to only look at the main HD when launching, or exclude looking at externally connecting drives when launching? That would be a much better solution.
Thanks.

This is a problem with OS X Yosemite. If you (understandably) don't wish to disconnect the backup drive you can resolve the problem by:
- ensuring the 1P5 app file is excluded from the backup; and
- deleting any backup copy of the 1P5 app file already on the backup drive.
Obviously if the worst happens you can always re-download the app.
I know this is not a direct answer to your problem but it seems to be the best solution available at the moment.

You certainly don't need to disconnect the external drive. Unmounting it (using Disk Utility) is enough.

Thanks. Problem resolved. It actually just fixed itself. But if it pops up again I'll be sure to try your suggestions. Thanks again.
