Sync not working after upgrading to 1Password 5.3!

Tonight when I updated 1Password, I received a message that it could not sync with the keychain, or something to that affect. The options were to fix or ignore. Neither of these options were of any use. Now when I try to open the 1Password.agilekeychain file, the “Continue” button is always disabled. I also tried selecting the 1Password folder above it. This folder is shared from my Synology NAS, and has been working perfectly for months.

I've tried creating a new vault, which leaves the primary vault hanging around. I've tried numerous other fixes, and there is no easy solution! This issue occurred months ago, and I don't recall how it was fixed. This is an extremely frustrating problem, and I've wasted hours of my time trying to get a keychain in a folder to sync between two iMacs and two android devices.

If this is what I can expect every time I upgrade I plan on switching to another password manager!

    Hi @zBernie ,

I'm so sorry to hear that you've been having trouble syncing after updating! Now, in order to help you out here, I'll need a bit of clarification:

Now when I try to open the 1Password.agilekeychain file, the “Continue” button is always disabled.

I assume that you're referring to re-setting sync in the Preferences > Sync pane, is this correct? Is the NAS properly connected when you're attempting to do this? The sync pane will not allow you to continue if they sync location is not available. Please note that we generally recommend using Folder Sync to sync to a local folder on your drive and then using a third party solution to sync that folder to your NAS.

First let me clarify that this is a local folder, which is synchronized between devices via Synology's Cloud Station software. It works very well normally. To eliminate the folder as the cause of the problem, I copied the 1Password.agilekeychain vault to my desktop, and was still unable to select it under Settings -> Sync -> Folder. So, I created the procedure below based on one of your articles regarding creating a new vault. This procedure creates a new vault and maintains your existing data.

    1. If you use the Mac App Store version of 1Password:

In Finder goto this folder: ~/Library/Containers

If you use the version of 1Password from the AgileBits store:

In Finder goto this folder: ~/Library/Application Support

    2. Locate the folder named 2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper
and drag it onto the Desktop.

    3. Reboot your Mac.

    4. Launch 1Password and select:

      "I've used 1Password before"

    5. Check the "This Mac" radio button

    6. Select "Choose folder" and select:

      /Users/bernie/Shared/1Password/1Password.agilekeychain

    7. Click "Continue" and enter master password.

    Hi @zBernie,

I see you were also in contact with us over email regarding this issue. You shouldn't be having this problem when you upgrade and certainly most of our users don't. Why it is happening for you is a matter of interest but as Kyle as explained, it won't be possible to determine the cause given you've started over. Please let us know if it happens again.
