Recover .agilekeychain from backup

I had to recover my .agilekeychain file from backup. I restored the file to the desktop, then fired up 1Password and pointed it at the file. Now how to I get the file to live in the right place? Obviously I don't want it hanging out on my desktop.

    Hi @bugmo,

Can you confirm what platform and version of 1Password you're running for us please. A 1Password backup only contains a .agilekeychain if it's 1Password for Windows or our older 1Password 3 for Mac. As the instructions will differ depending on the platform and version it would be prudent to ask before we give an incorrect set of instructions that will confuse.

This is version 5 on OS X. I used an older .agilekeychain file to initialize 1Password, then later I just deleted the file and everything still works. Did I do the right thing?

    Hi @bugmo,

If you used a .agilekeychain to initialise a new copy of 1Password 5 it would have used the contents to populate the locally stored .sqlite database file so you don't need to keep the .agilekeychain afterwards. 1Password would have also set up syncing to the .agilekeychain though so if 1Password complains don't worry. Pop into the Sync tab of 1Password's preferences and make sure syncing is set to None. Now if you want to set up syncing elsewhere then you can do so now - that's fine. What you don't have to worry about is the main database as it is independent of the .agilekeychain.

If you have any more questions please do ask
