Auto-Lock keeps activating [Solution: remove extra copies of 1Password app]

I just installed 1P 5. I have turned all the Auto-Lock features off. I have also installed the Safari extension. Every time I go to a website and try to use the extension, I have to input my vault password. On previous versions, I would only have to input the password once when I first opened the browser.

    Hi @brockhill,

I see a couple of possible reasons for this.

    1. Your Auto-lock settings in the Security tab of 1Password's preferences.
    2. Two copies of 1Password mini fighting and causing your vault to lock.

As you've said that all of your Auto-lock features are turned off my first hunch would be two copies of 1Password mini fighting with each other. Sadly it's not something we can sort out ourselves due to how we have to register 1Password mini with OS X. The only real way to resolve it is to remove any second copies of 1Password which also includes and backup drives that OS X may be running Spotlight on.

Standard places to check for second copies would include ~/Downloads/ and ~/Desktop/.

Could this be a cause of what you're experiencing at all?

Yes, I did find 2 copies of 1password and 2 copies 1password mini.

What is the best way to remove them and avoid this conflict?

I am sorry I was a little too quick to respond. Just realized that the second copy of 1Password was actually on my backup clone drive which Spotlight was picking up. So I only have 1 copy of each after all.

Not sure this is relevant but I am getting repeatedly this error message. See http://cl.ly/2T010U0S3X1q

    Hi @brockhill,

This problem can happen even though the other copy of 1Password is on your backup drive. So the solution is to delete the backup copy of the 1Password app from your backup drive, and (if possible) exclude the 1Password app from future backups. Your 1Password data will still be backed up, and you can re-download the app later if necessary.

You can find some more information in this knowledgebase article.

I hope this helps! If you have more questions or need anything else, please let us know.
