Just the instructions and refresh list button.

Since my iMac 1Password is older the instructions do no apply to my version on the the iMac!

    a new iPhone 6 running 1Password pro

Do you mean 1P5 with the pro features enabled or the older version of 1P that preceded it (which I think was actually called "1Password Pro")? If you're running 1P5 for iOS I don't you won't be able to use wifi sync to sync with 1P 3.8 on a desktop machine because wifi sync was completely re-written in 1P4/1P5 for Mac.

    Hi @flyinghigh,

As you can see from Stephen_C's questions, some of our naming conventions are possibly not ideal. 1Password 3 for iOS came in three flavours as was common at the time. There was 1Password for iPhone, 1Password for iPad and 1Password Pro (which worked on both). I think we're all happy you don't really see that any more. I'm think it's much more likely that when you say 1Password Pro in this instance though you are more meaning you've purchased the Pro features in 1Password 5 for iOS.

As Stephen_C has mentioned though, due to a massive rewrite in 1Password 4, Wi-Fi Sync is fundamentally different in 1Password 3 as it is in 1Password 4/5. If your Mac is already running the most current version of 1Password allowed for that version of OS X then your only option would be Dropbox. If you're running OS X 10.8 (AKA Mountain Lion) or later then you could upgrade to a newer version of 1Password for Mac. This would work with the Wi-Fi Sync in the current version of 1Password for iOS.

If you have any follow up questions please do ask

The version I am using on my iPhone is 5.4.1 and my OS on my computer is 10.7.5 that is the highest I can go. So all that being said I guess drop box is my only option? If that is true can you please direct me to a link on how to use drop box to do this?

    Thx

    Hi @flyinghigh,

I'm assuming the Mac running Lion contains your actual vault and the goal is to push it to the iPhone. If I'm wrong please do let us know.

So the first thing to do is sync your Mac with Dropbox. If you don't have an account or haven't set up Dropbox on the Mac then you'll want to visit https://www.dropbox.com and get that up and running. They'll guide you through what needs to be done.

If you already had Dropbox going or you've now got it running we can turn our attention to 1Password 3 for Mac.

Now the gotcha on the Mac is at some point Dropbox have changed either the process name or where something is located. I don't know precisely, just that 1Password 3 can't detect that Dropbox is active. Thankfully it doesn't actually stop us using Dropbox but it does mean we have to adjust how slightly.

In the General tab of 1Password 3's preferences there is the Move to Dropbox... which now fails due to being unable to detect Dropbox. What you might not know though is if you right click on the path above it you will get a small menu with three options. The one that will interest you is the Move Data File to Another Folder.... You can use that to manually move the .agilekeychain into Dropbox and achieve the same goal.

That's all you need to do to have 1Password 3 for Mac sync to Dropbox

Now we can turn our attention to your iPhone. If you haven't created a vault yet you can follow our Existing 1Password user guide to link 1Password for iOS with Dropbox. If you have a vault with nothing in it you're probably better off removing the 1Password for iOS app from your iPhone and then re-installing it. That will clear the empty vault and allow you to follow the Existing 1Password user guide.

If you have a vault with items in it that you wish to merge then our Sync with Dropbox is what you will want to follow.

If you have any questions regarding any of this please do ask
