educational purchase with app store

I would like to purchase an academic license for myself. I would prefer to download from the app store. Can you provide a code or migrate the license after purchase ? Thank you DM

    Hi @dmacdon8,

    Unfortunately we're unable to do either of those due to limitations with Apple's Mac App Store (MAS). We can offer an educational discount in our own store because we have complete control, the same reason we can offer a reduced upgrade fee too. With Apple's store though we are limited to the features they have in place. As a result there isn't a way to discount or give away a free copy. There is also no mechanism for Apple to recognise a valid 1Password for Mac (AWS) licence and allow you to download 1Password for Mac (MAS) that way.

    For the time being it is sadly one or the other. If you want iCloud Sync support it does require paying full price in Apple's Mac App Store. If iCloud Sync isn't a deal breaker it means you can benefit from a better price in our store. Sorry about that, it's just not something under our control.

    Now we do have sales every so often and we tend to announce these when they happen on Facebook and Twitter so if you were to follow us there and didn't need 1Password straight away you could wait. I don't know when the next sale is though.
