Which license is best for me - 2 Macs, 1 PC, + 2 Mobiles

Hello,

I read through some of the posts here but am still a bit confused. I'm using the free trial currently, but interested in purchasing the full version.

I have:

  • 1 Mac Laptop (work)
  • 1 Mac Laptop (personal)
  • 1 PC Desktop (personal)
  • 1 iPhone (but will likely be switching in android in the next 2 months).

I'm assuming I'll need to purchase the Mac + PC bundle, but I'm still confused on if I will need to buy an additional Mac license for my second laptop. Also, I'm unsure of how to share the passwords between all devices.

Thanks!

The license covers any number of machines on a particular platform. So only one Mac license is needed, and a Mac + PC bundle covers all the computers.

1PW for the iPhone is free in its basic form. There is an in-app purchase giving extras functions, but I guess you might be better to do without that as you plan to give up the iPhone.

As for sharing passwords, Dropbox sync is the easiest with the machines you have.

    Hi @milesb,

danco is spot on with both pieces of advice. A licence is per platform and covers you for as many devices of that platform as you have. In fact the Mac + Windows bundle would cover you for as many Mac and Windows machines as you and five other immediate family members have.

Given you want to sync between Mac and Windows and eventually Android your only real choice is Dropbox. If you're anti-Dropbox you could use Folder Sync but it would be quite cumbersome. For ease you can't beat Dropbox.

You may very well have follow up questions so please do ask!

You guys are awesome. Thank you!

I have a business account on Box, but no Dropbox... any idea if the basic Sync you're referring to is free with them?

1P sync with Dropbox will be free for you so long as you stay within your Dropbox data limit.

I wouldn't worry about hitting any limits using a free Dropbox account @milesb  I'm using 0.1% of mine at the moment and I think that might have been rounded up.
