1Password Mini and Terminal

It would be nice if 1Password mini would automatically show the server group when Terminal (or iTerm 2) are the frontmost applications. Currently, I can open 1P mini while in Terminal with ⌥⌘\, but I have to drill down to the "Show more categories" option to show the server category, and then find the server I need. If 1P mini could show the server category when Terminal is frontmost, or even move it toward the top of the list, it would speed up my workflow quite a bit.

Thank you!

(Aside: I posted this post prematurely because I pressed ⌘\ instead of ⌥⌘\, putting my username in the title field and submitting the form automatically. Thanks, 1Password!)

    Hi @JoshTheGeek,

While I don't know how many of our users would benefit from this I can see why those that do use SSH would appreciate it. Just playing about with it now I can see why it would be a timesaver.

Now while I can (and will) create a feature request on your behalf, that doesn't help you right now. I played about a little and I found the following. I don't know if it will help or hinder .

I was aware of this, Save SSH logins but hadn't found a use for it myself yet. Using this though I found I could add a custom field to a server item. I set the label to SSH and follow the guide of setting the field to ssh://username@server_address before then setting the field to the URL type. If you haven't seen that before then this screenshot should be interesting.

This in itself doesn't seem like a massive time saver but if you enter the configuration menu in 1Password mini (the little cog icon in the top right hand corner) you can set 1Password to search either Title and Fillable URLs (the default) or All Fields. If you set it to All Fields and enter the search term ssh then for me it brings up the server with this entry. Using the open and fill functionality on the SSH URL will open a new terminal using that entry. I found it even worked in conjunction with saved entries in your SSH config file e.g. ssh://username@server_address can be ssh://Host.

Now none of that may end up being an improvement for your workflow but I thought I'd mention it in case.

Something else that might work is while it wouldn't be dynamic, if you do a lot of SSHing then in the main 1Password window you could move the Server category further up the list as the order can be altered. You should find 1Password mini also uses the same ordering but it might take a restart. If you had it where the top category was Server and then Login it might work for you?

Please do let us know if either suggestion helps at all for now

In this particular case I'm using SFTP, so the URL trick does not work. However, I was unaware that I could rearrange the categories, which is exactly what I was requesting. Thank you for the amazing product!

    Hi @JoshTheGeek,

I only just learnt that second trick, having been working on another ticket earlier, so I'm glad I found an answer there before I came across your post. We both learnt something new about 1Password
