Auto login is not accepted unless manually copied for many accounts. What to do?

The usual solution for problems like this is to re-create and save the login manually. Try that for one or two of your "rogue" sites and if it doesn't work post again and tell us what browser you're using and the version number of the 1P extension used in the browser. It would also be helpful to mention the URLs of the sites you've tried that for and which still fail (so long as those URLs are not confidential, of course).

Thank you. What I have to do is copy the existing password and enter it manually. Then it works. However, it is occurring for many accounts that I have not had such a problem with before. The sites are not recognizing the same password when I enter it automatically.

Thanks for the response, but did you try, for any of those sites, what I mentioned in my first response to your post? The solution I suggested is exactly what usually cures the problem you have.
Edit: Sorry, I thought you meant the details were not correctly filled (e.g., in the right fields) when you try to login using 1P. Do you in fact mean the for all the sites that are a problem copying and pasting the password works but trying to fill the details automatically gives rise to the sites complaining of an incorrect password?

Copying and pasting the password works. Auto login does not work for many sites now and gives an error message that the password is not recognized.

It seems to me that there are only two possible reasons why you see what you mention in your last post:
- the relevant sites are not filling correctly for some reason—which is what is usually resolved by the first solution I suggested; or (perhaps more likely in your case)
- there is some hidden restriction those sites have on the length of the permitted password.
If a site has a restriction on the length of the password it accepts, automatic login from 1P will not work but copying and pasting the password will work (because in the latter case the password will usually be truncated to fit the site's requirements). Is the second possibility likely for any of the sites with which you're having difficulty?
If not, please provide some URLs of non-confidential problem sites so people can test them for you,

As I mentioned previously, I had no problem using auto login with these sites before. They have suddenly appeared now (perhaps as a result of your update?). Of course, I can do it manually, but this defeats the convenience of 1P5. Your suggestion about truncating the password is possible, but it doesn't explain why I was able to use auto login before. Thanks.

I'm sorry I have no further ideas and it's hard to think of any if you're not able to give any examples of the problem URLs.
(I should perhaps mention I'm merely a volunteer working on the forums and am not employed by AgileBits so it wasn't really "my" update. :) )

I'll second the issue that dlm67 mentioned above. I noticed it for the first time yesterday, with one particular site:
I'm running 1Password 4.4.3 on OS X 10.9.5. The auto-login process is not working for login.salesforce.com using Safari 7.1.5.I had a strong password that worked up until about mid-day yesterday. Then I started to get "your password is incorrect" error messages when trying to auto-login. I set the password to a short one I could remember (to eliminate password length issues), saved it in 1Password, and tried again. I got the same error message. If I type that password into the site manually, it accepts my credentials and logs me in.
I don't know if this is an extension issue, or website issue. I've also tried it with Firefox 37.0.2 and the same error occurs. I have close to a dozen logins for this service, and this is the only one that is failing. I thought it might be because I had selected this particular login as a favorite, but removing that option didn't solve the problem.

Hi @dlm67 and @MainStreetLuv,
I'm sorry some of your Login items aren't working correctly!
If it works when you copy & paste your login credentials, but not when you have the 1Password extension fill them for you, please try manually saving a new Login for that site. Does the new Login item work correctly?
Please let us know how it goes for you, thanks!

What I must do when the auto login doesn't work is to open up that password site in 1P5, copy it, and enter it manually in the password window. Then it works. It's a 3-step process instead of one step.

Thanks @dlm67. If copying & pasting your password from 1Password into the password field on the website works correctly, that means the correct password is saved in 1Password, but the 1Password extension isn't filling correctly for some reason. In that case, saving a new Login item for that site should solve the problem. Have you tried that yet? If you have any questions about the steps in that article, please let us know. Otherwise, please let us know if those steps solve the problem for you. Thanks!

I have tried saving new logins many times, but I still have to enter it manually after it is saved.

Hi @dlm67,
I'm sorry to hear you're still experiencing difficulties filling items in your browser. Can you confirm that you have followed the steps outlined in this article and it did not change the results? https://support.1password.com/save-login-manually/
It would help us get to the source of this problem if you could let us know what browser you're using, and some example website URLs that you're experiencing this problem with so we could test it out. Thank you!

I have tried saving new logins many times on Safari, but I still have to enter it manually after it is saved. This is confirmed, as the process is fairly simple. Some examples go from difficult, such as Social Security login, to AETNA insurance which is problematic, and other more simple ones which I can remember at the moment because I didn't make a list.

Hi @dlm67,
I think the best way forward would be to pick a single website when you come across one and to post in our Saving and Filling in Browsers. We can work through the troubleshooting for a specific site and help get it working. If we're lucky, going through a concrete example may very well shine a light on why you're having difficulties with so many.
If you do decide to follow my suggestion please do include the following information.
- Version and platform of 1Password.
- Version for both your browser and the 1Password browser extension
That particular forum spans all the various platforms that 1Password exists on. It would be a waste of your time if we made a mistake and were testing the wrong platform as there can be differences, likewise with the version numbers. It might be something used to work and is now broken and know what you're running will help
