Feature Request: Markdown for Secure Notes
Issue
For Notes I currently use DayOne, Simplenote and 1Password. Since I want to consolidate my Simplenote stuff into DayOne and 1Password, I came to the point where I had the need for more structure in the notes when they are longer then just one screen. Also currently some of my notes which look good on 1Password for Mac are ugly to read on the iPhone.
Feature Request
I would love to see a simple MarkDown integration which helps to structure Notes and even better to improve readability on every screensize. At least I hope so.
Thank you for consideration.
Jan.

Thanks for the suggestion, Jan. At the moment notes are limited to plain text, but we do understand many customers use them fairly extensively and would appreciate some formatting capabilities (rich text, markdown, whatever it may be). I'll pass the vote along to our developers for their consideration.
Thanks!

+1 for a Markdown option. Markdown is awesome.

:+1: for markdown :-)
Would also like to see it in the multi-line notes for individual accounts. For example, I keep a journal of interactions with my bank in the notes for that bank.

Hi @Kate Ward ,
Thanks for the request. Yes, I agree it'd be useful for notes fields in all of the item categories, not just the Secure Notes category. I'll pass it along.
Cheers,

+1 for markdown, rich text, or any kind of improved text in secure notes. Just like your Christmas email blast pointed out, people are using 1Password for many uses besides passwords. Would be a great feature. Thanks! Happy New Year!

Yes! Markdown would be amazing! I store notes about projects/clients in markdown files and have been moving the sensitive information over to 1Password. I'd love to keep all the info in 1Password.

Agreed. It is something I'd like to see as well. Thanks for the vote!

Hi there, just wanted to say that now that I've been using 1P for more and more stuff, having (even very simple) Markdown support would be great.
I don't know what other people's use cases would be, but just being able to make lists and headers would be hugely awesome.

Agreed! Thanks for the vote, @Evenprimes. :)

Thanks, @iRolf. It isn't on the roadmap at this point but hopefully something we can do in the future. It would require a fair amount of coordination across all of the platforms we support, and may require a change to our database structure as well (which is something we're very hesitant to do as it would likely break support for older versions).

thank you for the reply, @Ben,
what about a pre-step to that: using markdown-like elements with an editor-support like in this comment section?
so one could easily prepare, format, read and understand secure note sections without a hussle and when one day 1P can render this after saving the text, the sun while shine much brighter ;-)0 -
Certainly something I can suggest to our development team. :)

This request is now more than 1.5 years old. What's your current milestone plan on implementing it or do we rather wait for nothing?
Thanks,

Hi Jan,
We don't have any definite plans at this point with regard to markdown in 1Password. It is on the (fairly long) list of things that would be nice to add. :)

@dahanbn: We use Markdown daily ourselves, so it's something we'd like to have as well. Unfortunately this isn't near the top of the list currently, as it's very much a niche feature. But you make a really good point about the web interface. It might make sense to start there. Maybe we can do something in this area in the future, but it would mean a lot of coordination between all platforms and consideration and testing to avoid compatibility issues. Here's hoping.
