There are a few passwords I have committed to memory to be sure I don't get closed out of my digital life completely if I don't have access to 1Password. For me, besides my master password, I also know the password for my main email account and for my Apple ID.

1Password won't be able to automatically fill your credentials for iCloud or the App Stores, but you can use copy and paste to transfer them from 1Password to the appropriate fields. Only applications that have incorporated code to allow 1Password to communicate with them can accept automated filling. Apple's apps aren't among the ones that have done so. I'm guessing Apple won't be doing so in the future either.

  • Hey @smittyken12! That's a great question, and something that I've been trying to figure out myself for a while. It may be best to keep your Apple ID/iTunes password in your memory, or handwritten somewhere while you remember it, rather than in 1Password since you may could lose access to it this way. As mentioned in this discussion, and by hawkmoth, remembering your Apple ID password may be the best practice here if you don't have another device to look it up on when you need to log in.

    Hope that helps!

Thanks everyone I think what we're saying here is Apple doesn't necessarily want to endorse anyone of these and one password does not have the capabilities to override the biggest company in the world or make it available otherwise I'm sure they would .

I realize it takes a while to catch everything up and I've enjoyed using the app so far but on the iPhone 6 Plus but the copy and paste feature is pretty annoying
going back-and-forth several times, there is no swipe right feature & if someone can tell me how to copy both a username and password and paste them separately simultaneously I'll buy you a steak dinner.

most apps and sites don't accept 1password, let's just get that straight but I'm a fan and out of the thousands of sites at least we got 100. but even the ones that do, such as (example) Merrill Lynch or Bank of America allow you to make a username and password save but 1password doesn't function in their app?

Also many sites then want you to answer security questions which to my knowledge you can't do?

creating a new log in on chrome or safari for a new non sponsored site are hit or usually miss, a workout anyway

I don't understand the concept of have a thing to go to 1pawword browser either when all my bookmarks are stored elsewhere? It doesn't allow us to store bookmarks does it? And import them? And most importantly he doesn't have functions like view desktop version or am I missing something here?

Sorry to rant but I always have to end up answering and other information and trying to get the stuff to work

    Hi @smittyken12

I think perhaps you've answered some of your own questions. :) We would love to have 1Password accessible in every app on the App Store that requires you to login. Currently the only way we can integrate 1Password into other apps is with cooperation from their development team -- they have to add code to their app to make 1Password available. We make this code available free of charge, and encourage everyone to use it. But many apps still haven't seen enough demand from their user base to make it happen, or for whatever other reason have not done so. We reach out to a number of these companies, but what really helps get things done is hundreds of their users who also use 1Password writing in and requesting better security by allowing password managers in.

One of the great things about the code we share with app developers is that it is not 1Password specific. App developers don't have to worry about appearing biased by implementing code for 1Password and not for other password managers. Any password manager can tie into apps that have implemented our code.

Until the apps you use have implemented the extension copy & paste is going to be your best bet for those apps. It may be a little slow, but it is much more secure than using the same or similar (and likely weak) password everywhere.

Also many sites then want you to answer security questions which to my knowledge you can't do?

It may be possible to save a separate login (e.x. Merrill Lynch Security Questions) that contains the answers to the questions on that page.

I don't understand the concept of have a thing to go to 1pawword browser either when all my bookmarks are stored elsewhere? It doesn't allow us to store bookmarks does it? And import them? And most importantly he doesn't have functions like view desktop version or am I missing something here?

Some folks find 1Browser very helpful, and their list of logins is essentially their bookmark list. It does have the ability to change the user agent, which may cause a website to present the "desktop version" of their site within 1Browser. You can read more about that here:

    https://support.1password.com/guides/ios/settings-1browser.html

I hope that helps. Should you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to ask.

    Ben

Thanks that was helpful-, Very helpful thank you

Few last questions- I don't even know what a user agent means in terms of how that changes anything from function to capabilities. I tried and could not see any & The information on the website didn't explain what it is and how to use it EFFECTIVELY & EFFICENTLY on iPhone 6 Plus or anything else? #1

The other thing that's would be nice is if they gave us the option on other browsers of creating a login as easy as they do on the 1browser. Hopefully I'm wrong but I currently have to take my Safari and chrome pages and while I'm making a username and password for whatever site or accessing an old one – I then have to go into 1browser separately and type in all the information manually for a new registration or adding it to 1password rather than just being able to click crest login in another browser? Any help?#2

Your suggestion about a 2nd entry for other security information is a good temporary option but hopefully you can help w this a level deeper: often sites ask me to enter in my personal information like name, address, blah blah blah, credit card and so forth –

3-'How can we set up a general profile or site specific info with you folks so that way all the stuff with auto fill? Will those security functions that seem to be advertised as enabled work when you upgrade to premium?

4 – I still don't understand how somebody like Merrill Lynch is approved & advertised and understands the value you offer. Yet they & Bank of America make no mention of the relationship and to my knowledge – the app and websitesr do not have the login logo or anywhere to use our secure setup w you. I would love to use that one time generation and thumbprints but who follows up on if the advertisements are actually legit or if I'm missing something?

5- i'm ready to pull the trigger with you folks on mobile, desktop, etc. for all our company set ups and maybe even as gifts to employees. Do you have any consumer reports or JD power type awards? Any info you can post on something like say like a cnet or independent
ReviewS? Ha ha I could see this backfiring but it's really helped me so any blurbs about how giving all of our information to one company and then having it backed up on the cloud which probably introduces several other parties – all information and have no trouble about our employees losing sleep over something w positive intentions?

Sorry for the length & ready to buy- hopefully it's as easy as being able to buy everything on the iTunes Store including my window subscription… Which hopefully will work for all an individual's Windows computers & iPads, etc but I don't know how that works yet

6-Typically use Google Chrome for all browsers except when Apple sneaks in Safari

I would not beconsidering using your browser i would not be opposed to using your browser but I really haven't been able to find an easy solution to have bookmarks automatically and continuously sync with chrome and Safari or how to import them if they won't continuously sync, what extensions or applications you have available on the desktop version or sharing capabilities on iOS, if you supported all video formats and would seamlessly allow somebody to run any video streaming service I would probably move immediately, so annoying to deal with moving between explorer, chrome and Safari depending on if you want to watch HBO go or Amazon or Netflix or whatever and who supports who depending on if you want to watch HBO go or Amazon or Netflix or syncing a streaming CHROMECAST function &whatever else. Learning which one and switching between is a workout.

Being able to access your other open tabs on other devices and items like that would be boss, etc

I will pay hundred dollars for the app and another hundred for the browser that can do that and make life easy

  • Hi @smittyken12, thanks for writing back! I'll take your post a piece at a time:

I don't even know what a user agent means in terms of how that changes anything from function to capabilities. I tried and could not see any & The information on the website didn't explain what it is and how to use it EFFECTIVELY & EFFICENTLY on iPhone 6 Plus or anything else? #1

All browsers allow you to change your user agent one way or another and 1Browser is no different in that regard. Your browser's user agent helps the website know the capabilities of your browser and it can be used to offer different functionalities to different browsers. If you run into a site that tells you it requires a certain browser, you can try changing your user agent to the required browser to get the site to work in 1Password.

Any help?#2

You can actually create new logins directly from within Safari (and possibly Chrome as well) by using the 1Password extension. You can read more about the 1Password extension here: https://support.1password.com/guides/ios/extension.html

3-'How can we set up a general profile or site specific info with you folks so that way all the stuff with auto fill? Will those security functions that seem to be advertised as enabled work when you upgrade to premium?

Can you go into a bit more detail about what you mean here?

4 – I still don't understand how somebody like Merrill Lynch is approved & advertised and understands the value you offer. Yet they & Bank of America make no mention of the relationship and to my knowledge – the app and websitesr do not have the login logo or anywhere to use our secure setup w you. I would love to use that one time generation and thumbprints but who follows up on if the advertisements are actually legit or if I'm missing something?

To my knowledge, neither Merrill Lynch nor Bank of America have officially endorsed 1Password.

5- i'm ready to pull the trigger with you folks on mobile, desktop, etc. for all our company set ups and maybe even as gifts to employees. Do you have any consumer reports or JD power type awards? Any info you can post on something like say like a cnet or independent ReviewS? In terms of independent reviews, you can check out the following articles:

You may also want to check out our newly announced 1Password for Teams offering, it sounds like it may be exactly what you need: teams.1password.com

We have browser extensions for all major browsers, you can check them out here: https://agilebits.com/onepassword/extensions (as well as the aforementioned 1Password extension). At this time we don't integrate directly with any set-top boxes, but certain remote apps on your phone can work as a way to copy your passwords out of 1Password and paste them in to the services on the set-top box.

Thanks for all the great questions! Please let me know if there was anything that I didn't answer properly, I'll be happy to followup!
