Will 1Password gain better external keyboard shortcuts?
Hello,
I just got an iPad air and a bluetooth keyboard hooked up to it, and I'm surprised at the lack of shortcuts in 1PAssword, this being a productivity application that I'll probably be using a lot. Things like Command-F (to begin a search) or even pressing the down arrow to cycle through items you have searched for is absent from the most current version.
My basic question is: are there any plans on increasing keyboard shortcuts on 1Password in the future? Right now it seems like a huge oversight, and I'd think that with the iPad Pro being just around the corner, this would be a bigger priority. OR maybe that's just me?
Thanks,
Julian

Hi Julian,
Honestly I was not even aware this was a thing. :) I don't personally often use a keyboard with an iPad (or other iOS devices). It is certainly something we can consider if folks are interested.
Out of curiosity, is this something you find commonly in other apps?
Thanks!

Keyboard shortcuts are one of the biggest things that hold me back from taking the iPad seriously as a productive tool, and the lack of them constantly push me back to using my Mac to get work done without being frustrated (might just be me, idk).
I find that in general there are keyboard shortcuts provided in other iPad apps, however the support for it is spotty. But Apple has been pushing the iPad Pro in terms of keyboard shortcut availability (CMD+Tab to switch apps, normal Safari shortcuts that are available on the Mac are provided on the iOS version like CMD+L, CMD+T, etc.). Even press-and-holding CMD will show you a list of shortcuts available in the application you are currently in. Other apps are getting better bluetooth keyboard support such as OmniFocus, Coda, etc. and I like that trend.
1Password for Mac has a bunch of nice keyboard shortcuts, and I'm wondering if the iOS version (specifically the iPad) could receive some of those treatments.
And sorry about taking months to respond--I had meant to get back to you but then I archived the notification and just forgot about it. Won't happen again!

No worries, jm.torres92! Thanks for the reply. I've just recently started using an iPad Air 2 (w/ Bluetooth keyboard) as my main productivity tool and have run up against some of the challenges you mention. Unfortunately we would not be able to implement what I imagine most folks see as the most useful 1Password keyboard shortcut: Cmd+\
Unlike on the Mac 3rd party Safari extensions on iOS cannot listen for keyboard shortcuts. It may be possible for us to implement some keyboard shortcuts within the 1Password app itself though, and I'll certainly suggest that to our development team.
Thanks for the tip about holding CMD to get a list of available keyboard shortcuts -- very helpful! It doesn't seem to be comprehensive though. For example I do not see Cmd+P listed, but that does indeed bring up the Print menu for me.

Yeah, I think the hold-CMD shortcut menu is something that the developers themselves need to implement. I understand it'd be unreasonable for me to expect shortcuts to be created in Safari that incorporate with 1Password (due to sandboxing and all that), but bringing shortcuts to the main app would be great! I normally log into websites through the app's browser, so maybe CMD+\ could work there?

It could perhaps be something that could be implemented in 1Browser, though admittedly our focus as of late has been on the Safari extension.
Thanks!
