Shared secure notes

Something has changed recently regarding secure notes. I created a secure note, shared it with a colleague who edited the note and shared the revised note with me. It used to be that when I accepted the share, the edited note would overwrite the original. Now, however, it gets saved as a new note with the identical name. The note contains a fair amount of data and is being revised by one of us regularly. Is there a setting or something that we need to adjust to go back to having the revised note overwrite the prior version when it gets shared?

    Hi @Captzag,

Thanks for taking the time to write in. I apologize for the delay; I wanted to speak with our development team before I replied.

There was indeed a change. Previously items that were shared, copied, etc between vaults maintained their "UUID" (universally unique identifier). This is what allowed this sort of collaboration. Unfortunately this caused all sorts of problems with syncing etc and as such it had to be changed. Items are now given a new UUID when crossing vault boundries, which is why when your colleague shares the item back to you it appears as a new item. There is no setting to override this behavior.

We definitely want to encourage collaboration using 1Password, and so we hope to find a way to make this possible, without running into the difficulties we had previously. Unfortunately I can't offer any specific details or promises at this point.

Sorry I don't have the answer you were hoping for here.

    Ben
