Touch ID reset? Why?

Why do we need to enter our password every now and then even though the phone has not been switched off?! Why do we need to enter a password even after we switch off the phone? It's a fingerprint! We should be given the option. All this is doing is making users choice a simple password as the main password so it's not a pain when the Touch ID doesn't prompt.

    Hi @Chumio

TouchID access was implemented as a convenience feature not a replacement for the Master Password. AgileBits has included this question in their Touch ID FAQ and provide explanations on several points regarding Touch ID.

  • Hi @Chumio,

Thanks for taking the time to write in. As @JWeaver noted Touch ID is not a replacement for the Master Password. The Master Password is still used to encrypt your data, and this is why it is necessary to enter it on occasion.

I would highly recommend against choosing an insecure Master Password. The security of your data relies on a strong Master Password.

    Thanks!

    Ben
