I am unable to upgrade to the latest version of 1Password on my iPhone. If it's possible, I would really like someone to walk me through this process on the phone or by email/chat. I've looked through the forums and haven't found any useful information.

    Hi @kara_buffington,

Sorry you're having trouble upgrading! In case you haven't seen it yet, I think this step-by-step guide will be very useful for you:

How do I upgrade from 1Password 3 on iOS?

If you're having trouble with the process as outlined there, please let us know more details about what's happening and where you get stuck, so we can give you more specific instructions from where you're at.

We look forward to hearing how it goes for you!

I am having the exact same issues and "have" been ever since the new version came out. I have tried every way in these forums to transfer my data from 3.7.2 into 6 without success. When I try through iTunes/File Sharing/Apps in the documents folder and sync, it shows an "_imported" extension at the end of the file but when I go to open up the app, nothing is in there, and I cannot figure out why. I have attempted this procedure "10+" times easily, and the other way within the apps themselves, since I am prompted to every time I open 3.7.2, about 20-25 times again unsuccessfully.

Am I looking in the wrong place within the new app? Will someone who has been successful, please offer a "useful" solution, as this is simply ridiculous and please do not link the instructions that I have already attempted to the letter, that do not work.

@de_c_ap: Sorry for the confusion! _imported will not work. As mentioned in the article Vee linked, you'll need to change the extension name from .1ptbackup to .1pt3import for 1Password to read it. Be sure to follow the instructions exactly.

Have you entered your Master Password to unlock the old data? Without doing that, 1Password won't be able to read it. If you can be more specific about where you're running into trouble and what you're seeing (a screenshot would be great!) I'm sure we can get this sorted out. :)

@de_c_ap: I've merged your other post into the existing thread. If you post in multiple places at once, it will make it more difficult for you to find the answers you're looking for and get the help you need.

Will someone who has been successful, please offer a "useful" solution, as this is simply ridiculous and please do not link the instructions that I have already attempted to the letter, that .

These instructions have allowed both customers and AgileBits staff to migrate data from the old version. After all, that's why we made it into a knowledgebase article! Saying the instructions 'do not work' doesn't give us much information to go off of. Unfortunately it's hard to say what might be going wrong and how we might right it without knowing the exact steps you're taking, and what is (or is not) happening the way you expect so we can figure out the best plan of action. The more information you can give, the better. Thanks in advance! :)

@brenty I "did" change the extension to the correct one stated in the instructions. What I said, if you read my words again, is that the "_imported" changed ITSELF after iTunes finished syncing. I honestly have no idea what to screenshot you because I cannot pinpoint where there is a hang up since I do EVERYTHING to the letter! The old version never pops up the options to input the Master Password to unlock the data...

@de_c_ap: Indeed, you said that, but I thought I misunderstood, since that makes no sense. I have no idea why iTunes would change the extension, and I've never seen that happen myself. Perhaps only Apple knows!

I'm sorry that you're still having trouble with this. At this point, the best thing to do will be to generate a diagnostic report and send it to support+forums@agilebits.com so we can look at the logs to determine exactly what is happening:

    Sending Diagnostics Reports (iOS)*

*In 1Password Settings > Advanced > Diagnostics > Log Settings, enable App, Crypto, Database, Keychain, and SQLite

Just be sure to include a link to this forum thread and your username in the email so we can 'connect the dots'. We will get to the bottom of this! :)

@brenty It keeps the original file extension. It just adds the "_imported" to the end of it all after sync. Doing the iOS Diagnostics Report now, power you're instructions.

    @brenty SENT

  • Thanks @de_c_ap. We've received the report. We'll review it as soon as we can and get back to you via email.
