App Doesn't Work As Well As the Computer Version

The App on my iPad doesn't work as well as the app on my computer. For example, when I go to a web site and navigate to 1Password, it does;t automatically enter my user name and password onto the website. Also, I have to enter my password every time I open a website even if I had just entered my password a moment ago.

  • Hey @crahol! Ah, there's one thing you have to set up in Safari first: The 1Password extension. Just follow this guide to get it enabled and start using it:

Enable the extension | 1Password for iOS

It's just a few taps, and as easy as we can make it. If you prefer to do things directly in the 1Password app, there's also 1Browser, which can open and fill things like a master. You can learn all about that over here. Hope that helps get the ball rolling. :)

I already have the extension. I click on the 1Password in the extension and it doesn't add my username and password to the website. I have to open the 1Password app separately and copy and paste the password into the web site. Also, when I use the, extension, I have to enter my1password password each and every time I go to use it even if I've just entered my password.

    Hi @crahol,

Regarding the auto-lock, our page Settings: Security (iOS) may be of interest as that will talk about the different lock conditions available for configuration in 1Password for iOS. If you disable Lock on Exit 1Password will use just the Auto-Lock setting as well as offering a quick unlock via either a PIN or Touch ID depending on what security you've enabled at the iOS level. Does that link help for that aspect?

Turning our attention to the 1Password for iOS Extension, and using the Fill items in Safari (iOS) guide as a reference, are you saying that you can successfully reach step 5. and that no matter what site you are trying to log into, nothing ever fills?

If it's a small number of sites then there is a plausible explanation. Currently we don't work if a site uses an IFrame on the login page while we do in 1Password for Mac. It's a rather annoying frustration given as a user there is nothing you can really do about this - the site is using an IFrame and that's the end of it. In some cases I've found a bit of exploration can yield a non-Frame page which works but it isn't a guarantee. All of this would seem unlikely though if you're saying not a single Login item is working but that would be very strange too given how many people successfully use the extension. I for one am a big fan because I've found it makes iOS Safari so much more useful.

So with a little luck we'll learn something from your reply and maybe we can get a little closer to making 1Password for iOS useful to you

It's not working on any site. And the other issue, as I've stated, is each time that I use the extension, I have to log in again even if I just logged in.

So I tested it out on several web sites and it works on some and not on others.

However, I have to log in with my 1Password log in for each site. If I be able to log in just once and so long as I log in to another web site within a short period of time, shouldn't it work without my having to log into 1Password each time?

@crahol: No. As lil bobby mentioned, it depends entirely on how you have 1Password Settings > Security set up. It sounds like you may need to disable Lock on Exit and set the Auto-Lock timer according to your preference. Then if it still isn't working the way you expect, try restarting your iOS device to see if that helps. If not, could you please clarify what you're seeing? If it's simpler, take a screenshot of this. To include it in your reply, simply click the document button in the top of the comment field, and select the file you wish to share:

Please let me know what you find. I look forward to hearing back from you! :)

@crahol: What about the Auto-Lock setting? Did you try restarting? Unfortunately without some basic information it's hard to say what might be going wrong and how we might right it! The more information you can give, the better. :)

It is not on auto lock

I have to log in each and every time that I go to a website and want to use 1Password.

    This is very frustrating

  • Hi @crahol.

I apologize for the frustration and all of the back and fourth. I'd like to ask you to create a Diagnostics Report from your iPad:

    https://support.1password.com/diagnostics/ios.html

Attach the Diagnostics Report to an email message addressed to support+forum@agilebits.com.

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email, along with your forum handle so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.

You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number. Please post that number here so we can track down the report and ensure that it is dealt with quickly. :)

Once we see the report we should be able to better assist you. Thanks very much!

    Ben

I don't understand what to press after I get into the Diagnostics tab.

  • @crahol

    You'll hit Send Diagnostics:

This should open up Mail with an email message. Please put support+forum@agilebits.com on the To: line, and include a link to this thread ( https://discussions.agilebits.com/discussion/54625/app-doesnt-work-as-well-as-the-computer-version#latest ) in the body of the message.

Once you send the email you should get an automated response back very shortly after from BitBot. This will contain a support ID. Please post that here.

    Thanks.

    Ben
