Why don't all iOS apps support 1Password? [developers must add support for the 1Password extension]
Apps that are not browser based do not function with 1password. As more and more apps become availabile, 1Password becomes less and less functional. Please give a solution other than suggesting contacting the every other app developer to ask them to write their app so that the limited password app I have purchased will function.

Additional info: I would provide details about version, however I can't find it published anywhere in my iPad app.

App makers need to incorporate the 1Password methods for using 1Password for sign-ons. 1password itself does not have access to the app's login dialog / area.
For apps that do not support 1Password, use Copy and Paste of your credentials.

Thanks. I will try to contact the 30 or so app developers I have products from and ask them to alter their product so it will interface with 1P? Seems easier to get a different password manager.

Hi @markpillsbury,
Rome wasn't built in a day.
By all means you should use the tool that works best for your needs, and I'm sure you have the best sense of your priorities and requirements. 1Password is an excellent product in many ways, but like any product, it has pros, cons, strengths, and weaknesses. As someone who has used many password managers, and have written converters for many, I'm quite confident I've chosen the right one for me. The few times I have to copy/paste credentials into iOS apps doesn't register on the scale of the Annoyance Meter, and the features offered so outweigh such an inconvenience, its a no-brainier.
Anyway, hope you stay around, but if not, best wishes!

I understand you are an independent user which lends credibility to your assessments. I was onboard with 1P for a year. It has been a great product, however, this recent update has caused some problems that I feel are being swept under the rug, so to speak. I think potential new buyers of 1P should be aware of the sometimes significant shortcomings of this product. Or it might yet be possible the next version includes support for the ever increasing role apps. As 1P has done so well with in the past. In any event, thanks for your help

@markpillsbury: Sorry for the confusion! It isn't possible for any apps to integrate with each other on iOS without
1
the integratOR (in this case, 1Password) offering an extension, and2
the integratEE (the app where you want it to work) adding support for it. This applies to all iOS apps, not just 1Password; and it's part of the iOS security model: it's the reason why we largely don't have viruses and spyware there.Of course you're welcome to use whatever app best fits your needs, but interestingly many other password managers are actually using the 1Password extension framework (which we've intentionally kept open) to offer their own extension support, rather then reinventing the wheel themselves. ;)
We frequently add new apps to the list of those that support the 1Password extension, and we put a lot of effort into both developing and maintaining the extension itself and also working with other developers to help them add support for it.
We have a website devoted to the 1Password extension for developers, so be sure to let them know you'd like them to add support for it and point them in our direction. We're always happy to help them join the ranks of apps that support the 1Password iOS extension! But of course the old adage "you can bring a horse to water" comes to mind: we can offer these resources, but we can't cram 1Password into everyone's apps for them. :P

If you're having problems, by all means be sure to let us know what they are so we can address them. We're here for you! :chuffed:
